About SeaLink Bay Islands Passenger Ferry
Welcome to SeaLink Bay Islands Passenger Ferry, located at Outlook Crescent in Russell Island, Australia. Our establishment is a point of interest for both locals and tourists alike.
Since 1982, SeaLink Bay Islands has been the first Government contracted ferry service in the Southern Moreton Bay Islands. Formerly known as Bay Islands Transit (BITS), we joined the TransLink network in 2013 and became part of the SeaLink Travel Group in 2016. With a rich history and experience, we pride ourselves on providing reliable and efficient ferry services.
Our eco-friendly jet boats are at the heart of our operations, running 18 hours a day, every day of the year. These specially designed boats have a low impact on the environment, ensuring the conservation of marine life in the area. We take our responsibility to preserve the beauty of Moreton Bay seriously.
Our service connects Redland Bay with Macleay, Lamb, Karragarra, and Russell Islands in Southern Moreton Bay. Whether you're a resident commuting to the mainland or a visitor exploring the stunning islands, SeaLink Bay Islands is here to provide you with a safe and comfortable journey.
In addition to passenger transportation, SeaLink Bay Islands operates an ambulance vessel under contract to QAS. This vessel ensures that patients can be transferred to the mainland 24 hours a day, providing essential medical support to the community.
To make your travel experience even more convenient, we offer various ticketing options. You can purchase, top-up, and check your Go Card balance at over 500 retail locations in South-East Queensland. Additionally, a Go Card vending machine is available in the waiting room at the Redland Bay Marina.
With departures approximately every half hour, our fast and comfortable ferry service takes you to Russell, Macleay, Lamb, and Karragarra Islands. The Redland Bay Ferry Terminal (Weinam Creek), located on Banana Street in Redland Bay, is where your island adventure begins.
At SeaLink Bay Islands Passenger Ferry, we are committed to providing exceptional service and ensuring a memorable experience for all our passengers. Join us on our journey and explore the beauty of Southern Moreton Bay Islands.

Reviews of SeaLink Bay Islands Passenger Ferry
"Mark runs a fantastic service and helps support the community. One way is donating old CCTV equipment so I can install it in "emergency low income situations " free. 3 kits have gone to people desperately needing some protection. Thank you Mark."
"Always found staff to be friendly and courteous and helpful for those that need it. Also found that ferries are on time. New to SMBI but have found the service to be very good."
"I am a new resident on Lamb island. I was told I would have no trouble just driving to the ferry and it was reasonably priced. I drove down today. The girl in the office said that the office was closed and I had to phone. Then I was told as I wasn't registered they charged me $78. How do I register and how do I get a refund for the overcharge as I am a pensioner. This seems a very unfair system"
"I’ve been back and forth from Lamb is to Redland Bay today , and fortunate enough to be on the ferry with the ‘ladies’ in charge . How pleasant to be greeted with a smile and audible destination description …. And … a smooth and gentle boat ride across the bay . The service , in general , is prompt and efficient , but it would be nice if some of the more ‘gruff’ male deck hands would take a leaf out of these womens book, and be more outspoken about destination and do a little more smiling . . Well done ladies … it’s a pleasure travelling with you ."
"Ignore these bad reports, if you follow the rules you want have a problem. I have had regular ferries on time and friendly service"
