About Daisy Hill Koala Centre
Welcome to the Daisy Hill Koala Centre, a unique establishment nestled amongst eucalypt trees in Daisy Hill, Australia. Built by the Queensland Government as a dedicated koala education facility, this centre has been open to the public since 1995 and has undergone extensive refurbishments in 2009 and 2018.
At the Daisy Hill Koala Centre, visitors can immerse themselves in the world of koalas and learn about their conservation efforts. The centre features a large outdoor koala enclosure where our resident koalas can be observed from two different level viewing boardwalks. It's an incredible opportunity to witness these iconic Australian animals up close and personal.
In addition to the koala enclosure, the centre also boasts many interactive displays that provide educational information about koalas and their habitats. You can learn about the challenges they face, the conservation efforts being made, and the importance of preserving their natural environment.
The Daisy Hill Conservation Park, spanning over 570 hectares of open eucalypt forest, surrounds the koala centre. This park has long been a popular retreat for nature enthusiasts and is home to a variety of native animals, including koalas. It offers a serene and picturesque setting for visitors to enjoy while exploring the centre.
Please note that bookings are essential for groups larger than 20 who wish to visit the Daisy Hill Koala Centre. The centre is open for self-guided group visits from Monday to Sunday between 10am and 4pm. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all group programs, activities, and Wildlife Officer talks are currently on hold to ensure the safety of our visitors and staff.
While visiting the centre, you'll have the opportunity to learn about our female koalas, all of whom were born in the wild. Unfortunately, they have each suffered from chlamydia, a bacterial infection that has left them infertile. Despite their challenges, these resilient koalas have inspiring stories that shed light on the importance of wildlife conservation.
Located approximately 25km south of Brisbane, the Daisy Hill Koala Centre is easily accessible for both locals and tourists. Whether you're a nature lover, a wildlife enthusiast, or simply curious about Australia's iconic koalas, a visit to our centre is a must.
We also encourage visitors to report any sightings of sick, injured, orphaned, or dead koalas in South East Queensland to 1300 130 372. By working together, we can protect these cherished animals and contribute to Queensland's environmental initiatives.
The Daisy Hill Koala Centre is proud to acknowledge Aboriginal peoples and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the Traditional Owners and custodians of the land. We respect their deep connection to the land, sea, and community and pay our respects to Elders past and present.
Lastly, the Department of Environment and Science, which oversees the Daisy Hill Koala Centre, is committed to respecting, protecting, and promoting human rights, in accordance with the Human Rights Act 2019. By visiting the centre, you are supporting these important values and initiatives.
Come and experience the wonders of koalas and their conservation at the Daisy Hill Koala Centre. We look forward to welcoming you soon!

Reviews of Daisy Hill Koala Centre
"Nice walking tracks around the area. It has a large picnic area. Gets really busy in spring to summer months, making it really hard to find parking. Wood fire BBQ,s and some electric ones. Toilet facilities and mountain bike tracks. Make sure to take water, sun protection, insect repellent and a good hat and walking shoes."
"The koala centre is small and houses two koalas, yet is a great place to visit. It gives an educational tour of the life journey of a koala from womb to tomb. The display is excellent and eye-catching. It is a great place to bring kids along to kindle their interest in learning about nature. There is a small display about other endangered species as well. Entry to the centre is free of charge. You can also take a walk in the adjacent conservation park. There is ample space to park in the many car parks scattered along the road. Parking is free of charge."
