Fort Queenscliff Museum Gellibrand Street, Queenscliff, Victoria 3225
About the Business
Welcome to Fort Queenscliff Museum, located at Gellibrand Street in Queenscliff, Victoria, Australia. As one of Victoria's most significant historic sites, Fort Queenscliff showcases over 150 years of Australia's heritage. It is also one of the largest and best-preserved forts in the country, providing visitors with a rare opportunity to explore a 19th-century Coastal Artillery Fort.
All tours at the museum are led by experienced guides who are organized by The Fort Queenscliff Heritage Association in conjunction with the Army History Unit, which manages the Military Museum within the fort. Please note that access to the fort is only permitted through guided tours. Each tour has a maximum capacity of 35 people, so we recommend arriving 10 minutes before the scheduled start time.
It's important to come prepared, as there are no public toilets available at the fort. Additionally, the Defense Department requires all adults to present a printed ID card with a photo (digital IDs are not accepted). International visitors must have their passports for entry.
Please be aware that the gates are promptly locked by Defense Security at 11 am and 1:45 pm, so we advise arriving early to avoid any inconvenience. On Easter Monday, only the 11 am tour is available, and bookings can be made by calling 0458 551 709. On ANZAC Day (April 25th), there are no tours due to the 11 am service held in the fort.
For weekend tours, the scheduled times are 10:50 am (for an 11 am start) and 1:35 pm (for a 1:45 pm start). However, please note that the fort is closed on some public holidays. During the September school holidays, tours are available every day from Monday to Sunday at 10:50 am and 1:35 pm.
Weekday individual tours are operated independently from the Fort Queenscliff Heritage Association. These tours are available on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 11 am (weather permitting). Please be aware that weekday tours are currently not operating until further notice.
There have been some recent changes to the tour schedule. From January 29th to January 30th, the tour times will be at 11 am and 1:45 pm. For weekday individual tours, please contact Geraldine at 0410512472 to confirm availability.
We apologize for any inconvenience, but tours are canceled on October 8th and 9th due to a power outage. Additionally, tours on February 12th and 13th are also canceled for the same reason.
For ticket prices, we offer a family ticket for $45, which includes admission for two adults and their children. If you prefer to visit during weekends or school holidays, you can save 20% on family admission, priced at $80. Adult admission is available for $30, saving you $8, but is only applicable for weekend and school holiday tours.
During school holidays, tours are available every day from Monday to Sunday at 10:50 am and 1:35 pm. "Really enjoyed the FortQueenscliffMuseum your. Well run and learnt a lot about the fort and the area. The staff were great, very knowledgeable and friendly. I think it's more geared to adults and learning about history. Not too sure if kids or teenagers would enjoy."
