Our research in Media covers a wide range of topics, including media and consumption, crime, transnational media flows, and the environment. Our team's extensive experience as journalists, political correspondents, broadcasters, and communications professionals complements our research expertise. We have published in leading journals and top-tier academic presses, and our team members have received prestigious research grants and fellowships.
We welcome research proposals from qualified applicants for PhDs and Masters degrees, and we are open to interdisciplinary research collaborations with law, science, business, economics, journalism, geography, environmental studies, education, and health sciences.
In collaboration with the ABC-UTAS Media Literacy Project, we are committed to expanding scholarly knowledge about media literacy and promoting critical thinking among young audiences. This project aims to produce educational content that teaches students aged 11-16 how to be critical of the media they consume and enhance their knowledge and skills in media participation.
