"Ridiculous amount of waiting time , thank you to the NSW Health for the extra doctors you have in emergency department. Tight Arse government only does best for their own pockets. Third world country health system we have fallen to."
"There is no dignity in death in this understaffed and overcrowded hospital. During my dear mothers last days in Shellharbour Hospital she was moved five times within three wards which caused her a lot of stress and discomfort. Their reasoning, “oh, we’re full” “ there’s no room”. The second last room she was placed in there was a kindly man, but nevertheless a stranger, sadly suffering dementia who stood peering directly at my dying mother from the corner of the curtains. He frightened her. Yet I was powerless for two nights to have her placed in a private room until finally, mins before her passing. How horrible to spend your last moments feeling vulnerable & frightened. It’s shameful that our hospitals no longer have the financial capacity to establish appropriate tender care for their patients, elderly or otherwise, yet politicians send billions overseas. RIP mum. I wish I had raised my voice louder."
"Have spent approximately 24 hours in the ED waiting room in 1 week. Male triage nurse clearly hates his job and has no care or concern for patients. Male nurse in ED the same. Simply no care or consideration. There were lots of lovely female nurses running around but I was not lucky enough to get one of them. This hospital sucks when trying to get diagnosed"
"My friend had a BP 220/170 reporting to Wollongong medical centre. They called her an ambulance, and she went to Wollongong hospital. After being in a hallway for three hours, she left to go home and get some rest. I finished work, and took her then to Shellharbour hospital ED The Triage Nurse l (cranky dude) was dismissive, and left her waiting for five hours, with a blood pressure of over 210. Even moving her into the hallway so that others couldn't see her crying. I understand that there's an issue of quejumping, but this was literally a life threatening issue l, and the way she was treated was disgusting. The Doctors and ,post Triage, nurses were great though"
"I attended Shellharbour Hospital for day surgery on 26th May, 2023 and found the staff tremendous. They took into consideration my concerns and needs and ensured I was attended to with the utmost care. My procedure went well, thanks again to the staff for performing their job to such a standard."
