About Tasmanian Behavioural Lab
Welcome to the Tasmanian Behavioural Lab (tas.be.lab), located at 100 Melville Street in Hobart, Australia. As an establishment and point of interest, our institution is proud to offer a unique blend of research excellence, community engagement, and academic expertise.
At tas.be.lab, we believe that there is more to university than just studying. We understand the importance of connecting with new people and engaging in various activities to enhance personal growth. That's why we provide opportunities for students to participate in events, sports, volunteering, and more, allowing them to forge meaningful connections and make the most of their university experience.
Our institution is dedicated to delivering impactful research that benefits both Tasmania and the wider community. We take pride in our deep connections, not only within our own institution but also with local industry, schools, and everyone who calls our island home. By collaborating with various stakeholders, we ensure that our research has real-world relevance and makes a positive difference in society.
At tas.be.lab, we specialize in behavioural insights training, research, and consultancy. Our interdisciplinary approach draws on scientific insights from behavioural economics, psychology, and cognitive science to understand how people behave and make decisions. By leveraging this knowledge, we aim to improve decision-making processes in critical areas such as work, health, the environment, and the marketplace.
We work closely with the public sector, NGOs, and businesses to create impact through the application of behavioural insights. Our goal is to use behavioural science to enhance individual well-being, advance social welfare, and contribute to human progress. Whether it's designing effective policies, conducting experiments, or analyzing data, we offer a range of solutions tailored to the unique needs and objectives of our partners and clients.
Our state-of-the-art facility at 100 Melville Street serves as both a working experimental laboratory and a training and discovery center. Equipped with the latest software and amenities, it offers a comfortable and conducive environment for up to 30 participants or delegates. The facility is available for hire, making it an ideal venue for training seminars or research studies.
We also maintain a database of potential study participants, including students, staff, and members of the community. If you're interested in contributing to our research by participating in our studies, we invite you to join our participant database and receive invitations to upcoming projects.
At tas.be.lab, we tackle a wide range of issues and topics that concern our clients and collaborators from the community, business, and government. Our work spans economic, environmental, health, and social welfare decision-making, addressing common themes that have emerged from our extensive research and experience.
In addition to our research and consultancy services, we offer various educational programs. Our Graduate Certificate in Behavioural Insights provides professional training in behavioural science, while our short courses cater to postgraduates and practitioners seeking to enhance their capabilities in this field. We also offer behavioural-flavoured units of study for undergraduates and higher degree research projects tied to scholarships.
To foster a community of like-minded individuals, we have established the Tasmanian Behavioural Network (tasbenet). This informal platform brings together researchers, practitioners, and policymakers who share a professional interest in behavioural science and its applications. We welcome anyone who shares these interests to join us in our activities and contribute to the advancement of the field.
If you're interested in attending our events or have suggestions for future activities, please reach out to us via email. We regularly organize the tasbenet Round Table, a monthly gathering that provides an opportunity to network and discuss the latest developments in behavioural science. All are welcome to join, and no confirmation is required.
At tas.be.lab, we are committed to using behavioural science to improve decision-making and create a better future for individuals, organizations, and society as a whole. We invite you to explore our website, learn more about our work, and get in touch to see how we can collaborate and make a positive impact together.
