Reviews of Wombarra Rock Pool
"A place to enjoy chilling out in nature's beauty. A really great place for little kids and family groups."
"Lovely quiet spot away from most tourist traps. Not much parking but adequate. Had a beautiful , self made, breakfast here many times. Is top 5 on my places to chill early in the day."
"(4.5 stars) Approach this one via the stunning Seacliff Bridge, beloved by car ad makers, until you turn off Lawrence Hargreave Drive towards the ocean and head towards a stand of old Norfolk Pines that line the shore here. There’s not a lot of parking here (we were lucky) but Wombarra Rock Pool has all the other things you need: good change rooms, outdoor showers, picnic tables, a toddler’s pool next to the main one, all framed by the Illawarra escarpment backdrop. We were here between tides, which was also lucky, as this pool might be tricky to access safely on high. But it’s a beauty! Big, deep, weirdly shaped, with waves crashing over one corner for an oceanic spa effect. It’s been gradually upgraded over the decades since its construction in the 1930s, most recently around four years ago, and we thought it was now a great ocean pool that made for a really satisfying swim (it’s deep). Would return for sure."
"This is a fantastic little hidden gem along the south coast. Just past the Scarborough Hotel, the Wombarra Sea Pool is tucked away from some of the busier beaches. There a two pools - one is for kiddies which is about 40cms deep. The waves in the area can get quite strong so the pool water can get choppy. There are public toilets, small grass area, picnic benches and very limited parking onsite. We visited on a very windy day so had the pool to ourselves, but there were a few surfers braving the waves. I don’t think the beach is patrolled by surf lifeguards - check council website."
"It's a little hidden treasure that many miss out on to see, explore, swim, relax and enjoy. There is a sign on the main road but at 50km/hr it's hardly noticeable. Exceptional views partly of the Illawarra Escarpment. Maybe it was the timing. Very few people around. It was great. Practically having a large rock pool to yourself. Not to choppy. Pool was great. Nice and refreshing. Has toilet blocks but couldn't locate any showers. Seen a few campers around. Has magical views though today due to the current weather of smoke it did spoil the spectacular views. Always see Ships from abroad but they were hard to see due to the weather . Slightly visible. Great place to relax with a few fixed tables. There is also a small kids park. Will return whilst passing thru my ventures along the east coast line."
