"I loved going here. It's so beautiful and the artwork is so nice. I use a cane to get around so the option of the lift was nice - there were some stairs but nothing too hectic"
"A variety of shops reflecting the hand crafts of Tasmania. Also a wonderful place for coffee, food and atmosphere."
"Salamanca arts Centre is the lifeblood of Salamanca and the surrounding suburbs. It has five galleries which rotate monthly or fortnightly with new exhibitions of works, from local, regional and interstate artists. The works range from traditional, realism through to abstraction. The building is rich with history and has many signs and traces of prior use, both tangible and from the knowledge of the friendly staff. It is open most days and is particularly active during the week. Saturday for market day being the exception. Friday evenings they have live music in the courtyard from 5:30-7:30. Exhibition openings every second Thursday and Friday evening."
"A very good experience. We spent an entire morning here spending time in each shop, stopping to look at and appreciate the amazing skills and artistic abilities of so many talented Tasmanian artists. There was jewellery made with glass, silver, semi precious stones, wood, leather. Superb wooden items such as carved wooden boards which would look just as good on display in your home as they would to present a cheese platter to your guests. The old and used Book Shop is certainly worth spending some time browsing. Several shops display and sell a selection of books, including children's books. Many leather bags, beautifully crafted, made it difficult to choose my favourite one. I may not have included everything but it is a beautiful way to spend a morning. The area is fairly flat so accessible for those with mobility issues and also parents and carers with strollers and prams. Lastly, you will find several cafes where you could sit and admire your purchases after a worthwhile visit to this area."
"Great place to walk around and enjoy the art and architecture. A large number of shops and restaurants in the building and area. The building is a few floors and there are modern, contemporary and traditional artists. Easily spend a couple of hours looking around and more on Saturday with the Salamanca market is right outside the door."
