Reviews of Orana House
"This beautiful, original old home was built in 1909. It sits on a elevated position with views of Mt Wellington and the Derwent river. A lovely garden with onsite parking, surrounds the front of the home and would be beautiful in the warmer months. The inside of the home, including the rooms, are decorated true to the time period. Spacious rooms contain all the normal motel offerings, although the TV stations are limited and there are no streaming options (not an issue for me but might be for some). My room (Ethel Pearce) had an entrance off the front verandah as well as from the hallway. Rooms with verandah access, have seated areas outside the front door where one can enjoy the view of the garden and the river with the option to buy an afternoon tea or a cheese platter. The bed was big and super comfy. There is a guest lounge with fireplace and also a lovely breakfast room. Nina is a warm, welcoming, friendly host who clearly loves the home and hosting guests. She also makes amazing baked goods! Continental breakfast is included and has the usual offerings, but Nina goes the extra mile with home made Granola, home made yoghurt and different baked goods each morning. And they taste amazing! There’s also the option of pre ordering hot breakfast. The accomodation is a short 10 minute drive to Hobart central (20 by bus). If you are after something unique, that has everything you need, is clean, well maintained and comfortable and you don’t mind the short drive to town, then this enchanting accomodation is for you. I have no hesitation recommending Orana House and would happily stay here again."
"Me and my friends had a great afternoon here with beautiful high tea . The date scone was my favourite! Cozy space, amazing staff"
"Loved this older style cottage accommodation we stayed at. Most people stayed one or two nights, we stayed 6 days. Lenna, the manager, was beautiful and interactive with my daughter. we were close to shops and playgrounds. Wheelchair access. Lovely heritage building kept well. Big front garden that my daughter loved playing in. Breakfast included."
"Nina was an amazing host. With delicious home made bread offered for breakfast every morning, and on occasions homemade cupcakes. The house is beautifully furnished with lovely views and garden. The room was clean (Ellen Pearce Room) with tea and coffee in the room. The bathroom was a little small (but clean), but more than adequate for our stay. We will stay here again the next time we're in Hobart."
