Nayri Niara
About the Business
Welcome to Nayri Niara, an Aboriginal-owned Social Enterprise located at The LongHouse in nipaluna/Hobart, lutruwita/Tasmania. We are a unique establishment that connects people to Indigenous Culture, Country, Community, the Self, and the Sacred. At Nayri Niara, we unite ancient Indigenous knowledge with modern innovative practices, creating a space that is open to ALL people from ALL cultural lineages.
Our institution offers connective and immersive experiences that celebrate Indigenous culture and community. Explore our diverse range of offerings, including Acknowledgement/Welcome to Country, On-Country Workshops, Under the Surface Forums with First Nations voices, and other events that honor and celebrate First Nations culture.
In addition to cultural experiences, we also provide WellBeing offerings such as workshops, retreats, and private sessions with our WellBeing practitioners. Experience the transformative power of Indigenous Medicines Therapy, Holotropic Breathwork, Forensic Healing, and more.
At Nayri Niara, we believe in the importance of healing and rebuilding Indigenous cultural knowledge. We actively engage in projects that aim to create new futures within and beyond the Tasmanian Aboriginal community. Our goal is to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of Indigenous traditions, ensuring their preservation for generations to come.
If you are in need of a unique venue for your private event, look no further than The LongHouse. We offer our space for hire, where we can provide Indigenous cultural experiences, nutritional and medicinal food offerings, space styling, or a blank canvas for you to personalize to suit your event.
One of our most anticipated events is the Nayri Niara Good Spirit Festival. Held biannually on the stunning cultural landscape of lunawuni/Bruny Island, lutruwita/Tasmania, this three-day gathering is a powerful opportunity for Indigenous and non-Indigenous people to share knowledge, ceremony, and artistic expressions. The festival showcases a diverse array of musicians, dancers, healers, and teachers, offering a deep exploration of Indigenous, earth-based living, wellbeing, and healing wisdom.
We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to all who joined us for the life-enhancing 2022 festival.
In addition to our events and offerings, Nayri Niara is dedicated to fostering collaboration and connection between Indigenous and non-Indigenous artists. Our CULTIVATE Artist Exhibition invites artists from all backgrounds to come together and create meaningful works.
We also proudly participate in community celebrations such as the NAIDOC Celebration, where Leroy & Djuker Hart and Nathan Pitchford perform Indigenous Smoking Ceremonies. These events are a testament to our commitment to honoring and celebrating Aboriginal culture.
Lastly, we would like to acknowledge the deep respect we hold for the Tasmanian Aboriginal community, the Spirit of Place, and the Creation Ancestors. We recognize and honor the ancient and continued custodianship and cultural responsibility of First Nations Elders and cultural knowledge keepers. Nayri Niara stands as a testament to the sovereignty and self-determination of our people. #AlwaysWas-AlwaysWillBe.

"Nayri Niara are incredible! The community gatherings, events, workshops and one-on-one sessions with skilled practitioners that they offer are amazing! What they have created is such a special offering, it allows us all to have first hand access to the ancient knowledge and teachings of the First Nations people of the world, teachings that have the capacity to change our lives and our society for the better. Bridging the divides between all Australians, from all origins, the Longhouse creates a space of belonging, including for the children (my daughter has loved the Homehearth markets). They should not be losing the Longhouse, Nayri Niara and initiatives like this should be a priority for our Government."
