Welcome to KU Newcastle Supported Playgroups at Mayfield East Public School! We are a trusted institution with a long history of delivering high-quality supported playgroups in the Sydney Inner West and Newcastle regions. Our playgroups are managed under the framework of the Targeted Earlier Intervention Program (TEI), focusing on the wellbeing and safety of families and their young children.

Our playgroup programs are designed to increase parents' skills and confidence in supporting their children's growth and development. We provide a supportive environment where families can build social networks and create safe and nurturing home environments for their children. Our early childhood trained educators are experienced in working with families with diverse needs.

During our two-hour sessions, our educators provide structured and unstructured play-based activities that are age-appropriate, challenging, and interesting, promoting your child's healthy development. We also engage in discussions with families about their child's interests and development, offering individual support and referrals to local community and health services. Our playgroup delivery regularly includes topics such as children's play, health, wellbeing, and safety. We also welcome suggestions from families for topics of interest.

Our supported playgroups take place in various locations, including public schools, community centers, and church halls. All our playgroups are free of charge and operate once a week in the mornings. Please note that some venues may have waiting lists.

We are also proud to announce that KU has been contracted by The Smith Family to deliver the Steps to Starting School project in the Tea Gardens and Tanilba Bay region.
