"So I think I may have just found my new favourite spot in Newcastle, I live only 2 minutes away also so i defo will become a regular haha. I've tried the ramen and rice dishes, which the curry on rice is my absolute fave. I would highly recommend the katsu curries or the ramen curries!! My only thing is that I wish the katsu curry sauce was a little bit sweeter ( I wish they had that as an option at least to get it sweeter) and wish they came with more potato/carrots. Last time I ordered it had no carrots or potatoes in the curry sauce :( (personal recommendation: always get the the fukujinzuke pickles removed as they're horrible, your meal will be 100% better without them) add on spinach and an egg instead :) JUST REMEMBER! always upsize if you can as the regular portions can be quite small. Even the jugs for drinks are deceivingly small. This place is totally both veggo and meat-eater friendly which is so awesome for me as a vegetarian. Now, everything here is kinda expensive (it's the CBD + inflation so makes sense) so just be aware of that, but 100% it is worth the value because it's SOOOOO yummy. + Staff are incredibly sweet, accommodating and friendly. + If you'd like to order at this place for pick up, just order with them on the phone or when you get there because if you order through the app or on their website sometimes it's so much more expensive which really sucks and prevents me from ordering it for deliveries when I'm at my friends house when i want to show them how good susuru is :( 10/10 would recommend anyway. Definitely will be coming back OH. And the massive fan, decor, seating layout + toilets are freaking AWESOMEEEE"
"The food was excellent, however, not cheap and small portions of ramen. I understand that it's hard to compare to Sydney but just for reference for those wondering, a ramen can be had on average from $16-$20. Their price of $22 isn't far off, but the servings in Sydney are 50% larger in noodle serving and broth. Still deserves 5 stars because the taste was spot on and absolutely delicious, the toilets were clean, the staff were friendly and the restaurant was clean. Will definitely be back, but not as regular as I would like due to value."
"Fantastic gyoza and takoyaki. Ramen was perfect portion, served hot and relatively quick. Flavours of the broth, egg, seaweed, bamboo and chicken worked well but should have opted for corn. Incredible staff! By far the best service of any place we've been to recently."
"After we ordered I read some pretty poor reviews :( But I can only say I was very very happy with our dinner. We both had extra spicy ramen which had a delicious broth. The Prawn gyoza were yummy too. The icy cold Orion beer was delicious, so icy cold. The restaurant is a little brightly lit, but otherwise all ok!"
"Very very disappointing. The 2 stars are only cause staff and friendly and helpful. My tonkotsu ramen was only mildly warm. With extra Chashu pork. Pork was soft and tasteless. And the broth barely had much flavour. My wife got the Black garlic Tonkotsu and she said the flavour was nice compared to others in Newcastle she’s had. Overall the standard serving size is small and disappointing. And the broth is tasteless. Won’t be back anytime soon"
