Palmerston District Primary School
About the Business
Welcome to Palmerston District Primary School, located in the beautiful city of Palmerston in Australia. Situated at the entrance of the Gungahlin District, our school has been a pillar of education since its establishment in 1995.
At Palmerston District Primary School, we pride ourselves on acknowledging and respecting the traditional custodians of the ACT, the Ngunnawal people, as well as any other people or families with connections to the lands of the ACT and region. We appreciate and honor their continuing culture and the valuable contributions they make to our city and region.
With a strong focus on community, we celebrate all families and the significant contributions they make to our school. Currently, we have 792 students ranging from Preschool to Year 6, making our school a vibrant and diverse learning environment.
Our curriculum is designed to provide a well-rounded education to our students. In addition to the core subjects, we also offer Japanese language classes for students in Years 3-6. Specialist classes in Kindergarten to Year 2 may include Japanese, Library, Music, as well as Health & Physical Education.
We are proud to be a Positive Behaviours for Learning (PBL) school, where being safe, respectful learners shapes our daily interactions. Our core values, represented by the acronym PRIDE (Participation, Respect, Integrity, Determination, Empathy), guide our students in becoming responsible and compassionate individuals. You will see these values prominently displayed at the entrance of our school, and they are integrated into all aspects of our learning environments. Our beloved PBL mascot, 'Palmy,' adds an element of fun and excitement to celebrations and special events.
At Palmerston Primary, we strive to create inclusive and high-quality learning environments where each child is at the center of their education. We support and challenge our students to reach their full potential, and we take great pride in celebrating their successes.
We believe in the power of dreams and aim to provide our students with the freedom to be whatever they can imagine.

Reviews
"Absolute nuisance to the community. Also the last election you had terribly rude, "unsupervised" (as the parents were ignoring how inappropriate they were behaving and speaking to people) kids running the sausage sizzle."
"I disliked some of the changes made in the recent few years. However, I met some great friends (Andy, Dylan, Niki, Nathan, Ryan Karwa, Aiden ) and have many happy nostalgic moments from that school. However none of them came from the toilets (They are not too good). My brother goes there now but I don't anymore."
"Surprised to see quite a few bad reviews. Both my daughters attends this school, both started from their fantastic preschool program and are now in Yr 3 and Yr 1. The school has been a fantastic learning place for my children, and this is coming from someone with high expectations of their learning curriculum. Preschool: Wonderful dedicated space in the school, with great play areas and amazing teachers. The education program is rich and inclusive. Lots of activities, and kids learned a lot of things from the standard english/math foundation to animals, nature, the human body, with significant emphasis on building strong self identity, friendship and belonging in the community. Kindergarten: Strong emphasis on building reading an math skills. Kids picked up most of their reading skills here. Great patient teachers. Yr1-3: Also very good experience, the school is enrolled in the national talent program, there is a strong music program with 2-3 very musically talented teachers (ukelele and violin lessons in school), good incursion and excursion programs. Yes there were cases of misbehaving among classmates, but I felt were handled promptly by the teachers. Its unrealistic to expect a completely robotic-level-well-behaved bunch of kids, but as long as the teachers are trained and genuinely resolve these issues, I feel assured. The school also handled COVID-19 transitions amazingly. Teaching transition to online learning and back to in-person was done well. Toilet facility upgrade to touch-free taps shows attention to detail. Overall I genuinely feel that this is an amazing place for learning. Now comes the negative: (as of 2021) - Parking! The school have expanded significantly in recent years and there is severe shortage of parking and pickup.dropoff zone. - Facilities: The school have expanded and likely need to build more classrooms to accommodate. -"
"We have been so happy at this school and preschool over the past 4 years. They are very inclusive and have excellent community activities for the children and families. Our kids have learnt a lot about life skills, recycling, environment, literacy, numeracy, science, physical activity, world cultures and respecting the traditional owners of the land too so it's great to see such a strong curriculum."
"We love palmerston primary. The teachers are amazing, the community is amazing and so inclusive. So many changes have occurred with the new principal and the kids absolutely love her and how involved in the school she is."
