Kambri
About the Business
Welcome to Kambri, a vibrant institution located in the heart of the Australian National University campus in Acton, Australia. With its rich history and cultural significance, Kambri has been a meeting place for thousands of years for the traditional custodians of this land. The name "Kambri" was graciously given to ANU by representatives of various Aboriginal corporations and clans, symbolizing the deep connection to the land.
Kambri is a unique cultural precinct that offers a diverse range of educational, physical, creative, and social experiences, all within a village-like setting. As a contemporary community space, Kambri strives to embody the spirit of placemaking and gathering, fostering a sense of community and connection among ANU students, staff, and visitors.
Situated on University Avenue, Kambri is surrounded by tree-lined avenues and offers breathtaking views of Sullivan's Creek and the mountains. Accessible through various means, Kambri is designed with a people-first approach, ensuring well-lit and pleasant pedestrian routes that seamlessly connect with the surrounding communities and provide opportunities for active transport.
For those using public transport, the ANU campus is conveniently served by Transport Canberra's high-frequency 'Rapid' bus services. Additionally, Kambri is extremely bike-friendly, with over forty enclosures on the Acton campus providing secure storage for more than 2,000 bikes. If you're arriving by taxi or Uber, the rank is conveniently located right outside the Cultural Centre, ensuring easy access for all visitors.
At Kambri, we recognize and celebrate the First Australians, acknowledging the Ngunnawal, Ngambri, Ngunawal, and Ngarigu people as the traditional owners of the land. We pay respect to their elders, both past and present, and extend this respect to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff, students, and visitors of ANU.
Discover the rich history and culture of the ANU Acton Campus through our self-guided walking trail, highlighting the historical significance of this place and its ongoing connection to Country. Along the trail, you'll also find schools and centers dedicated to researching Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture, history, health, economics, and education.
For those arriving by car, the car park at the corner of Kingsley Street and Tangney Road offers affordable and secure underground parking, utilizing the latest ticketless parking system technology. With 15-minutes-free access for drop-offs and pick-ups, as well as various hourly, early bird, after 5pm, weekend, event, and competitive monthly rates, parking at Kambri is convenient and accessible.
