At Telopea Park School, we prioritize creating a fabulous learning journey for our students. Recently, our primary school students had an incredible day sharing their learning experiences with their parents and carers. The enthusiasm and engagement displayed by everyone involved was truly delightful. We would like to congratulate all the children and their teachers for their hard work in preparing this fantastic experience.

We are proud to announce that one of our Year 4 students, Yuna Rougeaux, received the individual award of "Highly commended for Outstanding Leadership" in sustainable development at the 2023 Order of Australia Association ACT Branch Student Awards. Additionally, our Eco-délégués group received the group prize of "Highly commended" for sustainable development. This was the first time that Telopea Park School participated in these prestigious awards, and we are thrilled with the recognition our students received.

Our students have also been actively involved in the 2023 Kids in Space national program, a collaboration between the Andy Thomas Space Foundation and the Australian Space Agency. This pioneering initiative allowed our students to explore space exploration and technology, utilizing the Makers Empire software. They studied the moon, the earth, and life on the International Space Station, engaging in cross-curricular activities in Science and Hass, all of which were STEM-based. We are proud to have had Christian Cook represent our students at the Kids in Space Showcase, where he presented his work.

In a collaborative effort, our Year 10 visual arts class visited the French Australian Preschool to teach a lesson on the art movement known as Pop Art. The students then created a cupcake collage artwork, showcasing their creativity and talent. This inter-school endeavor was a tremendous success, and our Year 10s thoroughly enjoyed the experience, with some expressing newfound interest in pursuing a career in education.

To commemorate our 100-year anniversary, Telopea Park School has partnered with the Canberra Museum and Gallery to create an exhibition showcasing objects from our school archive, including the original school registers from the 1920s. We also had the pleasure of hosting Ms. Esther Davies, a former teacher and now archivist, who shared the rich history of Telopea Park School with past students and staff members. This included stories about the school's construction, notable alumni such as Gough Whitlam, and its transition to a French-Australian bilingual school.

In celebration of Bastille Day, the Telopea P&C is organizing a French Breakfast. Parents, children, and teachers from both the high school and primary school are invited to join us on Friday, 28th July, from 8-9am in the primary quad. The event will feature music performances by our primary choir, socializing, and delicious pastries and hot beverages from Wildflour.
