"I can't imagine a dodgier business. I took my XC60 in for a scheduled service for $1,050 and was told during the service that my car's four tyres were "illegal" and needed immediate replacement. Volvo Cars Adelaide quoted ~$1,400 to replace the set of 4. Having had my car's tyres safety checked only two months earlier, I was suspicious at their assertion so declined their offer to replace them. I paid the $1,050 service fee and drove the car straight to a tyre specialist who, after inspecting all tyres, said there was absolutely no need to change the tyres and that there was at least 6 months of safe driving left on the set. Given my previous negative experiences with the Solitaire monopoly who own Volvo Cars Adelaide, I fully expect they haven't correctly completed or replaced everything they have charged me for in the service either. Volvo Cars Adelaide... your dishonesty to get you a few extra hundred dollars profit on a service has lost you a new car sale."
"Took my C30 in for a service. Everything working. Pick it up 4 hours later and the central locking and internal lights no longer work. I'm told the key fob has stopped working somewhere between parking the car and them bringing it into the shop. When I queried as to why it stopped working since handing it over, the service manager has looked me dead in the face and told me that it was like that when I handed it over. I'm then quoted $300 to replace the key fob which magically stopped working. I take the car home and a friend look at it over the weekend. He finds a plug at the rear of the fuse box not connected. He plugs it back in- viola; everything working 100%. They literally just forgot to plug the module back in. Now I know mistakes happen. That's 100% just life. Totally fine- I get it. But to not check that? Then to be plain face lied to and told the car was like that when I gave it to them, then to try and charge me hundreds of dollars for a part THAT DIDNT NEED REPLACING?! Upset doesn't feel like the right word. How am I supposed to trust these people when this is the way they treat their customers. Answer? I probably won't as I really dont know if I will be going back after this."
"Bought XC90 and always been serviced by Volvo Adelaide. Professional advice and excellent customer service from Alex, very kind and caring. Thank you!"
"Shocked that a 4 year old XC60 that’s primarily used for metro driving needs need brakes and rotors. Each time the car comes in for a routine service they find something wrong or unable to fix the faults. The passenger side mirror has a mind of its own and will move to a different position on each start up, has done since the first service and after 2 visits to inspect and repair, I gave up asking. Within the first 2 years of ownership the internal alarm sensor was faulty, setting off the alarm at 2am and waking up my neighbourhood. Prior to the 4th year service, the drivers side mirror makes a squeaking noising folding automatically when locking. This was lubricated but the noise has come back. Now out of warranty so obviously will be charged to repair something that should not have broken so soon. 4yr service it needs brakes and rotors along with an expensive quote to repair an oil leak! Although there is no evidence of any oil leak on my driveway so suspect something was damaged during a service and obviously something I’ll never prove. Surprised the rotors are so soft and have come to understand that that’s just Volvo, so won’t be purchasing again in future. In comparison, my 7yr old Skoda vRS has only needed the oil change. Disappointed with the customer service dept that I had to chase 2wks for quotes before someone finally got back to me and still no quote for a replacement water proof remote key. Poor communication and no follow up from the service centre. Reluctant to come back to have the brakes serviced but have few options on a leased vehicle. Appreciate covid has affected staffing levels and all business, plus the popularity of Volvo means the service dept are pretty busy, but it’s no excuse for poor service."
"Throughout my life I have driven an Audi A4, Volkswagen Amarok and VW Touareg, all brand new, and never had any issues with the brake pad in four years of driving each. Within two years, my brake pads of my Volvo XC90 needed changing. The mechanic at the Soltiaire Volvo dealership at 46-52 Glen Osmond Road, Parkside SA 5063 told me that this is just how Volvo cars are. Is this true? Secondly, I requested a refund for my XC90 for a major problem, the non-functioning navigation computer, but the mechanic told me they couldn’t handle that and I must contact the manufacturer for this. However the ACCC clearly states that a retailer cannot refuse to help the consumer by directing them to the manufacturer. So what is going on here? Yingjie Ma"
