Reviews
"Excellent view of the Opera House and the Sydney Harbour. Although its name involves a chair I didn't see any chair on the hill. It's inside the Royal Botanical Garden. Beware that the Botanical Garden closes rather early in the evening."
"Awesome place to catch the sunset! We were able to get a great spot with the bridge and the Opera House in view. We walked through the Botanical Garden to get here, which is a loooong walk but still nice."
"Great photo ops. Beautiful landscaping. Well groomed premises. Plenty of benches for resting. Lots of parking. Restrooms were clean. Safe place to take the family for a museum and scenic photographing afternoon. Highly recommend a visit."
"One of the best vantage points of Sydney but busier at sunset. Be prepared for a 1km walk to get there through the Botanical gardens or from St Mary's cathedral. Tourist buses can make it a bit hectic at times now that tourism is back on. Please read the history of the place, and namesake for added poignancy (BrontΓ« and Austen fans especially) and appreciation. (Clue: There is a chair to which a road was built)."
"The chair was carved out of a sandstone rock ledge by convicts in 1810. Specially commissioned by Governor Macquarie for his wife Elizabeth who was known to love the area this is one of the best vantage points to view the sights of Sydney Harbour."
