At Adelaide Skin Cancer Clinic, we understand the importance of identifying and treating skin cancers in their infant stages. Our highly skilled general practitioner, Dr. Amarnath Bhat (Amar), specializes in skin cancers and skin surgery. Originally from India, Amar moved to Australia in 2010 and obtained his Fellowship (FRACGP) in 2017. With extensive training and a master's degree in skin cancer from the University of Queensland, Dr. Bhat brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our clinic.
Having practiced in the country town of Mildura, also known as the 'Sunraysia' district, Amar noticed a high prevalence of skin cancers among his patients, particularly farmers working in vineyards. This inspired him to further educate himself on the nuances of skin cancers and advanced skin cancer surgery through Healthcert. His passion for dermatoscopy led him to incorporate regular skin checks into his everyday practice.
Our aim at Adelaide Skin Cancer Clinic is to identify and treat skin cancers in their early stages through regular (6 monthly) skin checks using computerized dermoscopy. By doing so, we strive to save lives and promote the motto 'Early Detection Saves Lives'. Melanoma, the fourth most common cancer in Australia, can occur in both sun-exposed and sun-protected areas of the skin. Additionally, we also focus on the diagnosis and management of non-melanoma skin cancers (NMSC), such as Squamous Cell Cancer (SCC) and Basal Cell Cancer (BCC), which are more commonly found in sun-exposed areas.
BCC, the most common skin cancer, is approximately three times more common than SCC. Often referred to as 'Rodent ulcer', BCC tends to spread locally, with distant spread being rare. Our clinic is equipped with modern technology and clinical expertise to ensure the early detection and management of all skin cancers.
