Telopea Park Barton, Australian Capital Territory 2600
About the Business
Welcome to Telopea Park, a renowned institution located in the heart of Barton, Australian Capital Territory. As an establishment, park, point of interest, and tourist attraction, Telopea Park offers a range of educational and recreational opportunities for visitors of all ages.
Our celebration kicks off on Saturday 9 September with Open Day Tours, where you can explore our beautiful campus and experience the vibrant atmosphere that our students and staff create. Don't miss out on this chance to witness the rich history and traditions of our institution.
Speaking of history, Telopea Park School is proud to be celebrating its 100th birthday on Monday 11th September. Join us as we commemorate this milestone with special events and activities throughout the day. It's a testament to the dedication and excellence that our students and staff have demonstrated over the years.
We take great pride in our students' achievements, and recently, we had some outstanding accomplishments to celebrate. Yuna Rougeaux, a Year 4 student, received the individual award for "Highly commended for Outstanding Leadership" in sustainable development from the 2023 Order of Australia Association ACT Branch Student Awards. Additionally, our Eco-délégués group was recognized with the group prize for sustainable development. We are proud to have participated in these prestigious awards for the first time.
In the realm of space exploration and technology, our students have been actively involved in the 2023 Kids in Space national program. This collaborative effort between the Andy Thomas Space Foundation and the Australian Space Agency allowed our students to delve into the wonders of space and utilize the innovative Makers Empire software. They explored topics such as life on the International Space Station and studied the moon and the Earth. This interdisciplinary program incorporated elements of science, history, and technology, providing our students with a unique learning experience.
Our commitment to collaboration extends beyond the classroom. Recently, our Year 10 visual arts students visited the French Australian Preschool to teach a lesson on the art movement known as Pop Art. The resulting cupcake collage artworks were selected for display at the "Limelight" exhibition organized by the Department of Education. We are immensely proud of our students' creativity and their ability to inspire young learners.
To honor our school's rich history, we have partnered with the Canberra Museum and Gallery to create a special exhibition. This exhibition showcases a captivating collection of objects from the Telopea Park School archive, including the original school registers from the 1920s. In addition, former teacher and current archivist, Ms Esther Davies, shared fascinating stories about the school's construction, notable alumni, and its transition to a French-Australian bilingual school.
The Telopea P&C is hosting a French Breakfast to celebrate Bastille Day on Friday 28th July. Join us in the primary quad for music performed by our primary choir, socializing, and delicious Wildflour pastries and hot beverages. Take a stroll through our beautiful school garden, which will be open for visits during the event. Pre-order your Wildflour pastries and hot beverages before COB Thursday 20 July to ensure you don't miss out on the delectable treats.
At Telopea Park, we are dedicated to providing a nurturing and enriching learning environment for our students. Whether you're interested in exploring our fascinating history, enjoying the beauty of our park, or participating in our various educational programs, we invite you to experience the wonders of Telopea Park.

Reviews
"Just wonderful park and the small river is amazing. I enjoyed walking there and the kids just loved it"
"Narrow, long park stretching from the quaint Manuka pool right down to the lake. Bike paths, playgrounds and BBQ areas make it a lovely little place to spend half a day, until you realise there are enforced parking times with a 2 hour limit. Bah!"
"Really enjoyed myself at this park. Very well kept, quiet and lots of space."
"A fantastic, local community park. Plenty of room for a cub scout pack to race some rafts down the creek without disturbing people too much and lots of shade for when the weather gets warm. Also has a kid's swings and climbing frame as well as a relatively new obstacle course."
