About Gorman Arts Centre
Welcome to the Gorman Arts Centre, located at 55 Ainslie Avenue in Braddon, Australia. As an establishment, point of interest, and tourist attraction, we are proud to bring together a vibrant and diverse arts community that is open to all. Our mission is to enrich Canberra's cultural landscape and provide opportunities to inspire, support, and connect artists and audiences.
At the Gorman Arts Centre, we value inclusivity and accessibility. We strive to provide a welcoming environment for all visitors, and on our webpage, you will find all the important details to plan your visit. This includes information on our opening hours, directions on how to get here, parking options, and accessibility features.
We are excited to introduce our Gorman Stories Project, where we collect and share personal stories from individuals who have lived, worked, performed, or simply visited the historic Gorman House. We believe that these stories help preserve the rich history and heritage of our institution, and we invite you to share your own story with us. For more information about the project, please visit our full project page.
We are also proud to highlight the achievements of our resident cartoonist, Stuart McMillen. Stuart has recently signed with Australian publisher Scribe for his debut graphic novel, 'The Town Without Television.' Renowned for his nonfiction web comics that delve into social issues involving science, economics, and psychology, Stuart's first book-length work will explore another classic sociology study. 'The Town Without Television' is set to be published in 2025, and we can't wait to share this exciting project with you.
Whether you are an artist, a visitor, or simply someone who appreciates the arts, we invite you to join us at the Gorman Arts Centre. Discover the vibrant creative community that thrives within our walls and experience the unique and inspiring atmosphere that makes us a must-visit destination in Canberra.

Reviews of Gorman Arts Centre
"Venue is open for limited attendees"
"Gorman Arts Centre is a fantastic place for a winter wedding. The staff are excellent especially Jenni from the Wedding and Events Office. Liesl & Hans were a couple I was the photographer for, and they had excellent communication and responses with the team and even managed to get a map ahead of their ceremony. This allowed for the couple for to be able to establish the best place for guests to sit, set up their musician, signing table and screen for guests to view from around the world. This also helped with being able to plan for best lighting and camera angles during COVID lockdown."
"My husband and I got married at Ainslie & Gorman in the courtyard under the Hawthorne tree last month and it was absolutely beautiful. Our wedding was Covid affected and Jenni (the coordinator we corresponded with via email) was so wonderful every step of the way - responsive, helpful and compassionate. The courtyard was lovely and well kept, and Talisha (the coordinator on the day) was lovely and kept me calm before the ceremony, which I was very grateful for. I love that we can go to Sage Restaurant for our anniversary and look out at the spot where we married, and trust that the courtyard will be beautiful for years to come. Thanks so much Ainslie & Gorman!"
"A beautiful heritage centre that produces amazing art and theatre."
