We acknowledge and pay respect to the Ngunnawal people, who are the traditional custodians of the land in Canberra and its surrounding regions. Their deep connection and special relationship with this Country are recognized and honored by us. Prior to their displacement, the Ngunnawal people thrived on this land, and their culture was intricately intertwined with it, shaping their physical and spiritual existence.
Unfortunately, the segregation of the Ngunnawal people from their Culture and Country has had long-lasting effects on their well-being, cultural practices, families, and continuation of their law and lore. We acknowledge the historic interruption they have faced and the significant contribution they have made in caring for this Country.
We also acknowledge any other people or families with connections to the lands of the ACT and region and respect their continuing culture and the contributions they make to the life of this city and region.
At Urambi Hills Nature Reserve, we invite you to explore the beauty of this ancestral and spiritual homeland. Walk the pathways of the Ngunnawal ancestors, immerse yourself in the rich history and culture of this land, and appreciate the tangible and intangible connections the Ngunnawal people have maintained with these lands and waters for time immemorial.
Come and experience the tranquility and natural wonders of Urambi Hills Nature Reserve. Discover the beauty that lies within this stunning Australian landscape and embrace the opportunity to connect with nature and the history of this land.
Reviews of Urambi Hills Nature Reserve
"Good view of tuggeranong and the brindabellas. Also good for walking the dog"
"when you need a moment and you find beautiful and peaceful views not far from the Tuggeranong Town Centre"
"Beautiful views of the Brindabellas, the Murrumbidgee River and the Tuggeranong Vallley. The path up to the lookout has been recently improved so it's no longer slippery. The gradient is quite steep but it's also a shorter walk than say, My Taylor. There is a chair at the summit to relax and enjoy the views. This walk pretty much guarantees that you'll see kangaroos! Note that the nearest public toilet would be at Tuggeranong Town Park."
"This is a fantastic nature park—my favourite so far in the Australian Capital Territory as the walking track gently undulates across a number of sparsely treed hills that give you the most wonderful views of the Tuggeranong Valley and the Murrumbidgee River. The bird life is amazing. We saw a flock of Sulphur crested cockatoos, Eastern rosellas, Crimson rosellas, Superb parrots, Magpies and Wattle birds in the hour we were there. We also saw kangaroos. There’s a rock cairn and a deadfall pile on Urambi Hill, as well as a bench seat to take in the view. The park is dog-friendly as long as they are leashed. The track is affected by water run-off so wear your sturdy shoes. Not recommended for prams or people with mobility challenges."
"8 and 10 year olds climbed up to the peak and did the circuit in 1 hour. Great views of the valley, steep in sections and Rocky but easily done."
