Cranleigh School

Welcome to Cranleigh School, a specialist establishment located at Holt, Starke Street, 20 in Australia. For nearly 50 years, we have been providing exceptional education and support to students aged between 4 and 12 years who live north of Lake Burley Griffin. Our institution is dedicated to catering to the unique needs of students with significant intellectual disabilities, many of whom also have autism. With a total of 95 students, we offer a nurturing and inclusive environment where every child can thrive.

At Cranleigh School, our primary focus is on fostering independence through individualized learning plans. We strongly believe in giving all students a voice, which is why we utilize a range of communication approaches to ensure effective interaction. Our dedicated team works closely with families to develop tailored learning programs, and we offer a wide range of specialist programs and facilities to enhance the educational experience.

Recently, our students had a blast celebrating Book Week under the theme "READ: GROW: INSPIRE." They participated in various exciting activities, including a dress-up parade, Book Club sessions where our Executive teachers read shortlisted books online, Read Aloud sessions, class door book week displays, and a staff book swap. It was a joy to see our students engaging with literature and embracing the joy of reading.

Science Week was another highlight at Cranleigh! This year, the theme was "Innovation: Powering Future Industries." Our students had the opportunity to participate in workshops conducted by Paula from the Academy of Future Skills. They explored various scientific concepts, powered rockets without feet, observed bugs under microscopes, played with car robots, and delved into science-themed books. Additionally, our students joined the Science Reading Club and engaged in class-based science activities. We are grateful to our First Nation families who generously assisted in planting a variety of plants to enhance our new playground areas.

We are thrilled to announce that Cranleigh School has been recognized as an 'Excellence Awardee' in the Australian Education Awards 2023, specifically in the Special Education School of the Year category. This achievement fills us with pride and excitement. The winners for each category will be announced on Friday, August 11th, during an awards evening in Sydney.
