Welcome to the ACT Teacher Quality Institute (TQI), located at 170 Haydon Drive, Bruce, Australia. As an independent statutory authority established by the ACT Teacher Quality Institute Act 2010, our primary goal is to uphold the standards of the ACT teaching profession and enhance the community's confidence in educators through professional regulation and practical initiatives.

At TQI, we believe in collaboration across school sectors and amongst teachers, schools, and universities. Our Board reports directly to the Minister for Education and Early Childhood Development, ensuring effective communication and cooperation. We are committed to promoting continuous professional learning and development, as well as fostering the professionalism of all teachers in the ACT.

Whether you are a current teacher or interested in teaching in the ACT, we have all the information you need regarding registration. Our website provides detailed steps to become fully registered, maintain or renew your registration, and record your professional learning. We also offer valuable insights into professional learning opportunities and the qualifications required for registration.

Additionally, we provide guidance on checking the registration of teachers and your role in responding to complaints about teachers, including reporting obligations. If you are assisting teachers in moving towards full registration, we have resources and support available for you as well.

In line with the government's 2020 ten-year plan for early childhood education and care in the ACT, the Education (Early Childhood) Legislation Amendment Bill 2023 has been introduced. This bill aims to support the success of early childhood education and care in the ACT, and we are actively involved in its implementation.
