Reviews of Ginninderra Medical & Dental Centre
"I would like to give 0 but there is no option, look for medical center close to your home than coming to this center, paying them for bad service, all the doctors are same everywhere, need to pay $100 everywhere then why do we need to deal with bad attitude reception staff here. I give them zero points for the bad attitude towards patient and zero for charging huge money $100 for just 15 minutes, and will keep on adding more dollars if doctor is slow in computer typing, and one of the doctor there types with pens holding in two hands with extremely slow speed. I have never seen this before"
"Dr Urolagin is the best doctor I have come across in Canberra in over 40 years. He is very good at his job and will stop at nothing to make sure you have all the necessary tests for diagnosis. He listens understands and is very personable. I would put my life in his hands. Highly recommended. Yvonne Lawson"
"I needed to see a Dr on a Sunday with flu symptoms, cough, nasal infection.. When trying to make an appointment with the ForHealth app I was advised I needed to ring reception after answering a question about my symptoms being similar to Covid. When i rang I was asked about my symptoms and advised to take a RAT test before attending the practice. It was politely explained that even though a test the night before was negative they need to be sure it's still negative on the day. I got an appointment at a time that suited me. I waa seen by the Dr on time. The centre has improved a lot since the old days of being over busy with bulk billed walk ins. Very happy with my experience today."
"This is a great facility and I will probably always go there. I have mostly seen Dr Jeganathan and he is simply awesome. He is their skin doctor (cut out my SCC cleanly and completely) and a GP. Probably one of the best doctors I have seen in my 60 years. Since moving away from bulk billing however, things are a bit confusing out the front. Online it says DVA cards are accepted for bulk billing but when I asked at the counter they told me it only applied if I was seeing the doctor for a DVA related matter. That is a bit confusing and contrary to the information on the web site, perhaps they could indicate which DVA cards are accepted for bulk billing purposes (there are only three so it wont be hard) and for what conditions (any or DVA related only). Additionally I was charged before seeing the doctor and instructed to come back to have the medibank rebate applied when I was finished. So I did that and the staff member was going to charge me again until I asked why. When I reminded her of the instructions she gave me she said "okay" and then said I was good to go and that the rebate would appear in my account shortly. Why did I need to go back to the counter? Could that not have been done when I paid? It seems you should really only need to go the counter the one time? I know the non bulk billing side of things has only just started, but I think the system needs a bit of finessing. I also wish there was some other way of confirming who I am without having to tell everyone my address and phone number - in this world of identity theft, it is a worry. Irrespective of that, I have been going to this clinic for a few years now, and while I only see Dr Jeganathan, my wife sees other Doctors and has no complaints, and front counter staff are great."
"I am writing to express my deep disappointment and frustration with the recent experience my family and I had at the Ginninderra Medical & Dental Centre. I had called the center last week to schedule an appointment for my 18-month-old son to receive his immunization. The appointment was booked for Saturday, July 15, at 15:10, and we were attended to by GP. After she provided us with the vaccination form, we were instructed to proceed to the Treatment room, where the nurse would administer the vaccination to him. To our dismay, upon reaching the Treatment room, we found the door closed. Confused and concerned, we returned to the reception area seeking guidance. The receptionist informed us that the nurse had already left at 3 pm. This left us in a difficult situation, as we were unsure how to proceed. In our conversation, the receptionist suggested visiting another center nearby, implying that they might accept the vaccination form. Understanding the importance of timely immunization for our child, we decided to visit the center on Sunday, July 16, despite it being a working day for both my wife and me. We arrived at 13:20 and approached the receptionist, explaining our situation and the prior discussion we had regarding the following day's visit. The receptionist assured us that we would be attended to promptly, acknowledging our time constraints. We proceeded to the Treatment room and communicated our circumstances to the nurse present. However, she responded with immediate rudeness, completely disregarding our request and insisting that we wait. Although there were only two patients ahead of us in the queue, we patiently waited for approximately 45 minutes!!!! Surprisingly, after attending to the two patients, the nurse ignored us and failed to provide any explanation or update regarding our situation. Growing increasingly frustrated, I went in search of the nurse and eventually found her. To my surprise, she displayed a dismissive attitude, stating that she needed to use the restroom and then take a break. Despite being the only patients remaining in the queue at that time, she unprofessionally suggested that we go elsewhere if we were dissatisfied with the service. This interaction left me deeply disturbed, as her behavior appeared biased and disrespectful. Her treatment towards us felt discriminatory, as she interacted quite differently with other white patients. Subsequently, I approached the reception desk, requesting a refund and expressing my intention to file a complaint about the entire experience, particularly concerning the first nurse who left before our arrival on Saturday, the receptionist who failed to provide appropriate guidance, and the second nurse who exhibited rude and unprofessional behavior."
