About Last Stop Ambledown Brook
Welcome to Last Stop Ambledown Brook, a unique vintage train carriage accommodation located in Wallaroo, Australia. Nestled in the picturesque Brooklands Road, our establishment offers a one-of-a-kind lodging experience that is sure to captivate both little kids and big kids alike.
With over 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry, we take pride in providing relaxed and friendly country hospitality to our guests. We pay attention to the little things that make a stay truly memorable, ensuring that you feel right at home during your time with us.
Whether you are a couple, a family, or a group of friends, Last Stop Ambledown Brook is the perfect place to unwind and relax. Situated just 20 minutes away from Canberra, our tranquil rural setting is surrounded by majestic mountains and award-winning wineries. It offers a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of city life.
We warmly welcome well-behaved children to our establishment. However, as we are situated on 40 acres of land with plenty of opportunities for climbing and exploring, we kindly request that parents keep a watchful eye on their children. Additionally, when using our pool facilities, children must be accompanied by an adult at all times to ensure their safety.
At Last Stop Ambledown Brook, we offer guests the choice of two self-contained ensuite carriages. Carriage No 4388 is tastefully furnished in the Art Deco style, while Carriage No 4786 boasts a charming 50's theme. Alternatively, you can opt for a truly nostalgic experience in our beautifully restored 1935 wooden first-class carriage (XBS 2162), which will transport you to a bygone era.
Our unique Melbourne Tram, which graced the rails from 1929 to 1979, now sits atop the highest point of our land, offering breathtaking views of the Brindabella ranges. Additionally, Carriage T4786, affectionately known as the "Red Rattler," served as a passenger carriage in suburban Sydney during the 1920s.
We are delighted to have received numerous positive reviews from our guests, who have enjoyed their stay immensely. We are grateful for their kind words and strive to continue providing exceptional experiences for all who choose to stay with us.
Please note that there is no public transport available to reach Last Stop Ambledown Brook, so having a car or means of transport is essential for your convenience and exploration of the surrounding area.
We look forward to welcoming you to Last Stop Ambledown Brook, where you can indulge in the charm of vintage train carriage accommodation and create lasting memories in the heart of Australia.

Reviews of Last Stop Ambledown Brook
"We stayed in the tram and from beginning to end this was a magical experience. Jenny and David are wonderful hosts and the accommodation is eclectic and quirky. The view is amazing and we were lucky to be there during an August Blood Moon which meant stunning sunsets and a wonderful atmosphere."
"This is an absolutely beautiful spot with such beautifully friendly owners you can’t go past it for a unique experience. Train or tram enthusiast or not, the accomodation was excellent, the views beautiful and the hosts unparalleled! Very close to some excellent vineyards and not too far from Canberra central for a day of exploring. Would highly recommend!"
"This place provides an unique experience of life in the 1930's through the paintings, advertisements and the environment on the train. Never before have I seen a hotel this astonishing in detail. It also provides you country life outside, with kangaroos, pigs and chicken. The breakfast is exceptional too, having giving you plenty of food with a restaurant like affair. Jenny and David are very friendly hosts. Too good!"
"Absolutely fantastic. Very relaxing, comfy & the host & hostess Jenny & David were very welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble. Will definitely be back! Thank for a memorable experience.."
"I came to Ambledown Brook to get away from it all and spent some well deserved time writing in solitude. Everything about this place was perfect and I can’t recommend it enough. Jenny and David are wonderful welcoming hosts who provide a cooked breakfast every morning. The carriages are an incredibly unique and quirky experience. The moment I arrived I felt at home and relaxed. Definitely coming back."
