The Pearce Community Centre

Welcome to the Pearce Community Centre, a not-for-profit community organization located in the picturesque suburb of Pearce in Canberra's Woden Valley. As a hub for various non-government organizations, the Pearce Centre provides a range of services and activities for the local community.

Situated on the grounds of the former Pearce Primary School, the Pearce Centre offers office and activity spaces for organizations dedicated to providing information, counseling, training, and referral services to children, youth, women, and individuals with disabilities. What sets the Pearce Centre apart is that it is the only major community center in Canberra that is not directly funded by the Government. While the ACT Government has generously provided the three buildings and 1.5 hectares of land, the center itself is responsible for maintaining these assets and its own administrative structure. This independence allows the Pearce Centre to tailor its services to the specific needs of the community it serves.

The management of the Pearce Centre is overseen by a committee elected by representatives from each tenant organization. This committee works closely with a dedicated Centre Administrator who coordinates services and maintenance on their behalf. Together, they ensure that the Pearce Centre remains a well-maintained and welcoming space for all who visit.
