Gips Pipes
About the Business
Welcome to Gips Pipes, located at 14 Frost Road in Salisbury, Australia. We are an established and highly regarded institution that specializes in pipe insulation. Our services include both pre-insulated piping, which is applied at the point of manufacture, and on-site insulation for pipes that have already been installed.
At our state-of-the-art Production Plant in Salisbury, South Australia, we manufacture the renowned Gips Pipes branded piping system. With the support of our corporate partners, we are able to produce approximately 1km of pipe per week, ensuring top-quality underground or above-ground piping thanks to our innovative centring systems.
Our piping is available in a wide range of colors to suit your specific needs. For short run orders, we offer powder coating, and for larger quantities, we can provide a color bond coat. We also have a spiral machine that allows us to create casings tailored to fit all types of pre-insulated piping.
One of our key advantages is our use of a high-pressure pouring machine, which enables us to produce insulation that is 10% more effective than products made with low-pressure machines. Additionally, all pipes leaving our facility are quality endorsed, ensuring the highest level of reliability and performance.
Insulating pipes is crucial, especially in outdoor or unheated areas where temperatures can drop below freezing. When water freezes, it expands and can lead to damaged or burst pipes. While pipe insulation cannot prevent standing water from freezing, it can significantly increase the time required for freezing to occur. Therefore, insulating pipes at risk of freezing is highly recommended, and local water-supply regulations may even require it.
It's important to note that smaller-bore pipes are more prone to freezing than larger-bore pipes. In addition to insulation, alternative methods such as modulating trace heating cable or maintaining a consistent flow of water through the pipe can be used to prevent freezing.
Insulating pipes is not only important for preventing freezing but also for reducing heat loss. Pipes carrying liquids above the ambient temperature can cause heat to flow into the cooler surrounding air, leading to energy waste. To combat this, it is common practice to insulate these pipes against heat loss. The thickness of insulation required depends on the temperature of the liquid being transferred, with higher temperatures requiring thicker insulation.
In buildings that are well-insulated, it may not be necessary to insulate pipes as the heat loss may be minimal, and the heat transferred to the air inside the building can be beneficial. However, insulating pipes can also serve as a sound barrier, reducing the transmission of noise from one part of a building to another. This creates a quieter and more compliant working environment.
