Welcome to the Association of Independent Schools of South Australia (AISSA), located at 128 Greenhill Road in Unley. As a prominent establishment and point of interest in the education sector, AISSA is dedicated to providing choice, diversity, innovation, and excellence in education for families in South Australia.

At AISSA, we understand the importance of effective professional learning in improving teaching and learning within schools. That's why we strive to create opportunities for our member schools to engage in such learning experiences. As the peak body for the Independent school sector in SA, we play a significant leadership role in providing advice, information, and representing individual schools and the sector.

Independent schools in South Australia offer a wide range of choices, catering to diverse religious beliefs such as Anglican, Baptist, Christian, Christadelphian, Greek Orthodox, Islamic, Lutheran, Seventh-day Adventist, and Uniting. Additionally, these schools embrace various educational philosophies, including Montessori and Waldorf Steiner. The sector also encompasses secular schools, special assistance schools, and a special school dedicated to students with severe disabilities.

Our schools educate nearly 20% of the state's children, with higher percentages in the secondary and senior secondary years. We have a strong presence in regional South Australia, with approximately one-third of our schools located there, and two in remote areas. While the majority of our schools cater to students from Reception to Year 12, we also have a significant number of primary schools within our membership.
