About One Tree Hill Progress Association
Welcome to the One Tree Hill Progress Association, located at One Tree Hill, Black Top Road, 1009. As a city hall, establishment, and local government office, we are a point of interest in the beautiful hills above Elizabeth/Craigmore, roughly midway between Tea Tree Gully and Gawler. Just 12 kilometers to the north, you'll find Gawler, while Adelaide is approximately 32 kilometers to the south.
One Tree Hill is a charming town with a population of around 1200 people, still maintaining its lovely village feel. Here, you can experience the essence of a close-knit community, complete with its own country pub and a small group of local shops. The name "One Tree Hill" originates from a single large gum tree that once stood 3 kilometers from the town center near the original One Tree Hill Inn. Although the tree was sadly burnt down in 1890, five trees were planted around the old tree's location as a commemoration. Today, you can still admire these five trees proudly standing on the corner of Walter Road and Black Top Road.
The One Tree Hill Progress Association operates in accordance with a Constitution and welcomes membership from residents and ratepayers of the One Tree Hill township and adjacent areas. The nominal membership fee is $2, and we are always seeking new members to help us grow and strengthen our community. If you're interested in joining, simply click here to download a copy of the membership form.
Our association holds regular meetings on the 2nd Thursday of each month (except January) at 7:30pm. Visitors and prospective new members are always warmly welcomed to participate and contribute.
We are proud to announce the opening of the One Tree Hill Street Library, which became operational on February 26th, 2020, in front of the One Tree Hill Institute. This unique initiative allows everyone to take a book, leave a book, or even exchange a book 24/7. Thanks to a 12-month permit granted by Playford Council, we are able to trial this concept and encourage the community to participate.
Mark your calendars for the One Tree Hill Country Market, held on the first Saturday of every month (except January) at the Institute Hall. Here, you'll find a diverse range of stallholders selling gifts, food, and homewares. Whether you're looking for a unique item or simply want to support local businesses, this market offers a delightful experience.
If you're in need of a venue for private functions such as weddings or birthday parties, look no further than the One Tree Hill Institute Hall. Our friendly hall manager is available to provide helpful advice and ensure your event is a resounding success.
Stay informed with our monthly publication, The Grapevine magazine. Distributed to One Tree Hill postboxes and homes in the local area, you can also find copies at select town shops, including the Diner and Fodder Store. This magazine keeps you updated on community news, events, and other relevant information.
The One Tree Hill Progress Association is a not-for-profit, community-based organization dedicated to fostering a sense of belonging and promoting the well-being of our residents. Join us in shaping the future of our town and building a stronger community.
