About Bond University Faculty of Health Sciences & Medicine
Welcome to the Bond University Faculty of Health Sciences & Medicine! Located at Robina, University Drive, 14, our institution is a renowned establishment, known for our excellence in health education and research. As a point of interest in Australia, we take pride in our commitment to innovation and collaboration.
Research is at the heart of our success in the Faculty of Health Sciences and Medicine. Our world-class academic staff, in partnership with industry and government partners on regional, national, and global levels, strive for research excellence. We believe in empowering people to improve health through collaboration, innovative education, and research.
Our research strategy is built on three pillars: researcher capacity building, niche centers of research excellence, and a progressive Higher Degree by Research (HDR) program. These pillars ensure that our research profile continues to grow, maximizing the impact of our research and providing opportunities for our staff and students.
One of our notable research institutions is the Institute for Evidence-Based Healthcare. It is dedicated to delivering world-class research, engagement, and training, serving as a valuable resource for scholars, clinicians, system leaders, patients, and families in implementing evidence-based clinical care. By integrating research into practice, we contribute to the health and healthcare of Australians, influence health policy, improve global health outcomes, and enhance Bond University's reputation as a leading private and independent university.
We also have specialized research centers such as the Centre for Urology Research (CUR), focused on enhancing knowledge of the lower urinary tract to develop new treatments or enhance existing ones. The Clem Jones Centre for Stem Cells and Tissue Regenerative Therapies (CJRC) focuses on retinal tissue engineering, specifically age-related macular degeneration. Additionally, the Tactical Research Unit aims to enhance the protection and performance of tactical personnel through pragmatic research, education, and advice.
Our partnerships with Gold Coast health have further strengthened our commitment to delivering better care and improving simulation delivery techniques. We strive to develop healthcare practitioners who can effectively use simulation in their everyday practice.
Within our faculty, we have various research groups dedicated to specific areas of health sciences. The Health Professions Education Research Group focuses on the scholarship of learning and teaching in health professions. The BUND Research Group aims for research excellence in nutrition and dietetics. The Physiotherapy Research Group focuses on building community health through practical strategies and solutions in physiotherapy and health research. The Water Based Research Unit investigates the health benefits and enhances the sporting performance of aquatic recreational and sporting activities.
We are also committed to researching and understanding stigma to improve care provision and health outcomes for individuals and groups experiencing stigma. Our evidence-based research on stigma and discrimination in healthcare aims to make a positive impact in this area.
Our research achievements are notable, with one of our researchers receiving more than $1 million to explore the potential benefits of wearable devices for managing type 2 diabetes. We also have experts exploring the impact of uncomfortable body armor on women in police and military forces, as well as the connection between dietary patterns and depression.
At Bond University Faculty of Health Sciences & Medicine, we are dedicated to advancing knowledge, improving healthcare, and making a positive impact on global health outcomes. Join us in our mission to empower people to improve health through collaboration, innovative education, and research.
