Reviews
"this school was very rude and gave students ptsd about learning and want to die after going there."
"I went to this school for 3 years, the school was very disappointing and disrespectful towards me. A staff member within the office department abused me and dug her nails into my arms outside of the school library and left bruising due to pinching me, punishing me by detention and suspensions very frequently. No help was provided, no support by my teachers nor any other staff members, constantly throwing me into a nursing room in the office and left me there for hours on end stating I was a “naughty child” if this was the case then why were no teachers aid supplied to me and help me with my education to better my learning experience and push me into the direction by guiding me with support and giving me the education I deserved. Instead of taking away my education entirely and isolating me and making me feel alone. I was very young and these actions aren’t acceptable towards a child. Children look up too adults for guidance and I was let down. I wasn’t allowed to attend year 7 camp (when I contributed funds) I was pulled from choir and other activities, but now I look back and I’m grateful I didn’t attend now as the staff member isn’t a man I would want my younger self to be associating with and his behaviour is concerning he shouldn’t be commenting on young girls photos that he use to teach especially in there bikinis not professional nor appropriate! Bullying was never brought up to any of the teachers there main concern was not my learning or the permanent effects they had on my life as a adult now causing me too have post traumatic stress, anxiety and depression. A teachers aid stated to me that the teachers were picking on me and to try my best to not let teachers get to me and I felt as if I had support, her daughter then notified me that I wasn’t allowed to associate with her as her mother didn’t like me which was disappointing. I was very young and being abused and disrespected in many ways with no support was so wrong and I deserved so much better, in a way I’m grateful I experienced such a awful experience in this primary school so when I have children of my own I know what to look for and to be aware of the signs and schools don’t always have you’re children’s Interest at heart. I also had a pencil case worth $150 stolen from me at this school no action was taken to help me no respect for students property. I was also given a suspension because the school believed it was my idea that another student and I left the school grounds, the school then received information from students and parents that it wasn’t my idea, I didn’t want the student to leave school grounds alone. And only I was punished due to this. I am grateful for the school principal at the time and his wife being so kind and caring throughout my years at Gibbs street. All parents need too research throughly, it’s inevitable that all schools will have bullying/bad teachers or children that are playing out of not so good behaviour but help children instead of justify will put them in a corner or suspension and not actually help them, I lost my primary education as teachers didn’t care about my learning please make all teachers aware that every child’s life deserves education help them. Do better! I see on social media bad experiences primary school years impacts have on children’s lives when they’re now adults we have one life please make every child’s experience in school a supportive, happy time … ! You never know what children are going through please don’t add too children’s stress. Treat children as you would want to be treated as a child. Better communication and caring teachers to help this school strive, students deserve every support possible, make it happen!! Please do better Gibbs Street be the change you want to see in this world"
