About the Business
Welcome to Ashfield Primary School, located at 65 Margaret Street in Ashfield, Australia! As an establishment and point of interest, we are proud to be a primary school catering to 125 students from Kindergarten through to Year Six. Our diverse student body represents over 35 different nationalities, creating a rich and inclusive learning environment.
At Ashfield Primary School, we are dedicated to providing a high-quality teaching and learning program that enables all our students to achieve success. With high expectations, we work collaboratively with the wider school community to prepare our students to become respected and contributing members of society.
Our school is built upon four core values that are deeply ingrained in our Behavior Management System and Ashfield Superstars, our whole school rewards system that recognizes our students' efforts. We have developed highly refined and high-quality teaching programs designed to engage our students and foster their knowledge, understanding, and skills as confident learners.
In numeracy, we have adopted programs such as Matheletics, Origo Stepping Stones, and a strong emphasis on Mental Computation to support our students' development. In literacy, we have implemented the Letters & Sounds phonics program, Soundwaves Spelling Program, Dandelion Reading program, and Springboard comprehension. Our literacy program is further enhanced through our partnership with the North East Metro Language Development Centre. Primary Connections serves as the core teaching resource for our science program.
Recognizing the importance of technology in education, we have made significant investments in ICT over the past two years. iPads, Chromebooks, and laptops are readily available for our students, alongside a functional computer lab equipped with desktops for every student. Each classroom is equipped with an up-to-date interactive whiteboard and a class set of Chromebooks.
Physical education is a key focus at Ashfield Primary School, with a highly skilled program that offers extension opportunities through inter/intra school carnivals in cricket, AFL, AFLW, athletics, cross country, netball, soccer, and teeball. Our Principal and Deputy Principal also provide before and after-school sporting programs such as tennis, Auskick, Milo In2 Cricket, basketball, athletics, and rugby.
Our arts and music specialized program is taught by a local artist and musician, nurturing our students' creativity and talents. Additionally, our strong pastoral care program includes a School Psychologist, Chaplain, and volunteers from the community who come together to offer Breakfast Club to our students every morning before school.
Our classrooms are equipped with up-to-date multimedia technology and air-conditioning, ensuring a comfortable and conducive learning environment. Outside, our Kindergarten and Pre-primary students have their own enclosed outdoor play area with climbing frames, swings, and sandpits. For our older students, we provide basketball courts, climbing frames, a large oval, an undercover area, and a spacious nature space, offering ample opportunities for physical activity and exploration.
Ashfield Primary School has a vibrant and active P&C (Parents and Citizens) association, and we warmly invite new parents to become involved. The P&C plays a vital role in promoting the school positively within the community. We celebrate our diversity with Cultural Celebration Days and Christmas Extravaganzas. The P&C also manages the Uniform Shop and School Banking services on Thursday mornings.
Established in February 1955, Ashfield Primary School has been an integral part of the Ashfield community for decades. Our catchment area extends to Wyatt Road and Wright Crescent in the west (Tonkin Highway), Shackleton Street in the east, Guildford Road and the Perth/Midland railway line in the North, and the Swan River in the South.
We are proud to be Ashfield Primary School, where every student is valued, supported, and given the opportunity to thrive. Join us on this exciting educational journey!

"I love this school! The staff, parents and students are all champions in my mind."
"Good staff"
"Wonderful school with caring teaching staff, administration and small classroom sizes. The kids and parents are friendly too, from a diverse range of cultures an backgrounds."
"I'm happy with the fence that is being erected around the school. I think that local Mons Street residents need to adapt to change. This school is not the only school to have the fence implemented, IN Western Australia."
"Great school my son absolutely loves it he is in Miss Burkes class and she's amazing!!!, Principal's and Teachers are great and communicate with you about any issue's with your child wether it be big or small. I couldn't be more happier sending my son here. I would highly recommend Ashfield Primary to any parent, any concerns you have for your child will actually be addressed as opposed to a lot of other schools."
