Governor Stirling Senior High School
About the Business
Welcome to Governor Stirling Senior High School, located in the beautiful suburb of Woodbridge, Australia. Established in 1959, our school has a rich history of academic and sporting excellence. We are proud to provide an educational experience that promotes respect, hard work, and achievement.
At Governor Stirling Senior High School, we strive to create a positive and supportive learning environment that caters to the unique abilities and learning styles of our students. Our experienced teachers encourage students to dream big, create opportunities, and achieve their goals.
To enhance the learning experience of each child, we offer a range of specialized programs. Our Gifted & Talented program, Specialist Engineering program, Specialist Artsmedia program, and Specialist Australian Rules Football program provide students with unique opportunities to explore their passions and develop their skills. Additionally, we offer school-based programs in Academic Extension, Netball, Dance, Music, Aboriginal Education, and nationally accredited vocational certifications.
In 2012, our school underwent a major redevelopment, resulting in a state-of-the-art campus worth $63 million. Our students now have access to top-notch facilities, specialist teachers, and strong connections with various tertiary and industry bodies.
We value the feedback of our parents and continuously strive to improve our services. The 2023 Parent Opinion Survey is now open, providing parents with the opportunity to share their satisfaction with the way our school caters to their child's needs. We encourage all parents to complete the survey and help us in our self-assessment process.
For our senior students, we offer VET opportunities that provide access to further education and training pathways. These opportunities are designed to prepare students for their future careers and equip them with the necessary skills.
Our Specialist Program in Artsmedia, delivered in partnership with universities and industry, offers students in-depth industry knowledge and access to the latest technology. From visual arts to digital and game design, film and television, journalism, and photojournalism, our program empowers students to excel in the arts and media field.
Governor Stirling Senior High School is also known as Western Australia's specialist engineering school. Our students have the privilege of being taught by highly skilled teachers and industry experts. They engage in real-life engineering projects, workshops, and competitions, preparing them for a successful career in the engineering industry.
Our Football Program has also achieved great success in developing rising stars in the AFL and WAFL. Through partnerships with junior clubs and District Development Squads, we provide our students with the opportunity to excel in Australian Rules Football.
We take great pride in the achievements of our past students, who have gone on to seize opportunities in the real world. Their success is a testament to the quality education they received at Governor Stirling Senior High School.
In addition to our academic and sporting programs, we are committed to giving back to the community. The GOVO Goodness Collection Service (GGCS) is a community collection hub run by a small committee group within our school. Through this service, we aim to make a positive impact on the lives of those in need.
We recently had the honor of hosting Senator and Minister for Foreign Affairs Penny Wong at our school. The students were thrilled to ask her insightful questions, and her words of wisdom left a lasting impact on everyone involved. We are grateful to Ms. Tania Lawrence, the local Hasluck representative, for inviting the minister to our school and giving her a warm welcome.
If you have any questions or would like to get in touch with us, please feel free to contact us via phone or email. We look forward to welcoming you to Governor Stirling Senior High School, where we inspire students to imagine the possibilities, create opportunities, and achieve their dreams.
