"My 2 daughters have attended kp for 10 ish years. Watching this family owned studio grow from renting the little hall in high Wycombe to getting your owne studio has been incredible to see. All the staff love what they do and passionate is an understatement. If your a member there you are family. Attending the concert last night at the convention centre just shows how big you have gotten and how professional you are. The shows always evoke emotions of happiness and as a proud father yes I bring tissues. My children flourish being here and I can honestly say have attributed to the beautiful little humans they are.... Thanks kp for your love and attentiveness to my girls and all you members it's been lovely."
"My 15 year old daughter has been attending this dance school for 10 years. Whilst here she has trained in all genres of dance, singing and musical theatre and is also now a senior student teacher, in training to become a teacher at the school once she is old enough. Through Kalamunda Performers wonderful training she has gone on to win scholarships for both dance and acting, competitions, gotten very high grades in all her dance exams and has been cast in 5 Perth Musicals 3 of which have been at the Regal Theatre. She has also perfomed in the City of Perth Nativity. She has travelled interstate and represented WA at dance competitions throughout Australia and Kalamunda Performers have taken her training as far as the USA when a small group of dedicated serious students travelled there in 2018 to further their skills and education. She is constantly praised by others on her technical ability, work ethic and commitment to everything she does in life from dance to beyond dance and a big part of where that came from was her Kalamunda Perfomers Family. If you want a school that goes above and beyond to accommodate your child, helps them grow, nurtures them and provides some of the best training in Perth then I highly recommend Kalamunda Performers. We wouldn't go anywhere else. Thank you for everything and believing in our girl. You not only shaped her but our family also and for that we will always be grateful."
"I danced at this company for roughly 10 years. I’m not here to talk badly about them, as I do have some treasured memories that I made here, although I do feel that it is important to share some incidents that occurred whilst I was still a Student here. After around 5 years of being at the company, I was having many personal issues going on in my family as well as health issues. The Teacher that I had this particular year never once asked if I was okay or if there was a reason that I was missing so many classes. Instead, I was openly mocked in front of the whole class on multiple occasions. I remember one time, I asked the Teacher where I was supposed to stand in the concert routine, as I had been away and she told me “well maybe you shouldn’t have missed so many lessons” in a smug tone. This is a memory that I remember clear as the day it happened, despite it having happened 6 or 7 years ago. I was a child with complex issues going on in my personal life and as much as I wished I could attend classes more often, I physically had no choice. I should’ve left the studio the day that incident happened, but I chose to stay. After around 7 years of being at the company, the classes were split into two: advanced and general. Upon asking what it would take to be able to be in the advanced classes, I was told that I would have to take more classes, which was not very fair for an 11 year old to hear that had no control over her parents finances and could not legally go out and find a job to pay for these extra classes I was required to take. I had many people urging me to leave the studio after seeing how upset this made me, but I chose to stay. With each year that passed of being in the general classes, the difficulty of the routines that we were given seemed to be decreasing, rather than increasing. It made me, along with a few other Students who still dance there, absolutely miserable as we felt that we were getting left behind as well as wasting our own time and our parents money on a dance studio that didn’t care about whether or not we improved as Dancers. I was even earning 10 dollars an hour working weekends to pay for one of the classes I was taking. Looking back, there were so many other things I could’ve spent my money on, including dance studios that would appreciate the sacrifice I was making to pursue my passion- which didn’t even seem to be going anywhere! On my final concert at the dance studio, I don’t think I could name a dancer in my class that wasn’t absolutely humiliated by the choreography we were given. We performed one of our dances after a group that would’ve been around 11… bear in mind most of us were 17 and 18. We felt absolutely embarrassed stepping onto that stage to perform in front of our families after a group that were 6 years younger than us that we felt were being pushed to their limit whilst we weren’t. Don’t get me wrong, some of the staff here are wonderful, especially Angela (the prior principal teacher/ owner) who I have just find out has retired and is no longer running the studio, which assures me that I definitely made the decision that was the best for myself and for my mental health- leaving the studio. I did have fun dancing here, but it’s hard to look back and see the fun and happy memories when one of my last memories there was feeling humiliated and not wanting to perform, something that I always used to look forward to. I would certainly recommend this dance studio- if you can afford to sign your child up for multiple classes, otherwise you might have to watch them lose their passion for something that they once wanted to pursue a career in…"
"If i could leave a zero star rating i would very unprofessional dance school and can be very cruel to their students. My daughter did not deserve this treatment you should be ashamed of yourself after all the effort she had put into your school what a joke. In reply to your response Yes it is your right not to take a student BUT when i think about the amount of effort time and money and i am talking thousands of dollars at your dance school and to have a student represent you in local and interstate comps placing in most of her routines only to be told shes not the right fit what ever that means and our family values don't align ? and the things that were said ? i'm not even sure where you are going with this it all sounds like a load of BS to me. Bottom line is you kicked my daughter when she was down you need to ask yourself where your values and morals are at."
"This dance school is an absolute joke, coming from a student that grew up at this dance school, I would not recommend sending your child here. I can also confirm that you would not like the way Michelle talks to your child behind close doors being her assistant teacher for many years"
