Reviews of Contemporary Gymnastics Academy
"Have been viewing Contemporary Gymnastics Academy website before coming in and didn’t see any notification regarding trials being cancelled and must pay for the whole term with registration fees in advance. It is still on the website saying ‘ Classes are $10 per class - NO BOOKINGS REQUIRED’. We have been driving all the way to Contemporary Gymnastics Academy and have to be turned away. We can’t go to the lesson even if I asked to pay $20 or $30 to trial a session (free trial last year). Not even allowed to sit aside to watch the class. No apologies from the front desk. Child feeling very upset. Waste of time to drive all the way along."
"We have enrolled for kindy Gym since about 2 months . my daughter loves it and I do too. Coach is nice and professional , the class is well planned and thought. progresses are visible and continuous. flexible arrangement are made to suit young kids . can't recommend it enough"
"The 'CEO' & Club tried to stop our daughter (9 year old) from competing in a local State Competition when we decided to change gyms. At the same time 4 other families left the club. Out of the 4 families that left we were the only family to gave hard copy written notice as per the clubs rules & regulations (and a bunch of flowers as a Thank You - we thought it would be a nice gesture). We PAID all outstanding membership fees but the 'CEO' decided to charge our family with an additional 3 month membership fee ($1200 plus) penalty charge as 'punishment' AND claiming we had NOT provided any written notice (MY LESSON LEARNT ALWAYS SEND ELECTRONIC CONFIRMATIONS) stating our 9 year old was leaving Contemporary Gymnastics Club. She did NOT enforce this rule with any other family who left the club at the same time, we were the only family that were charged the 3 month penalty club fees. We raised a dispute with the club but the 'CEO' refused to answer phone calls/emails from us or Gymnastics WA. At the time, we disputed the claim and refused to pay the 3 month penalty club fees. But the 'CEO' blocked our daughters move to another club (Active Gymnastics), by refusing to sign a transfer order to allow her to compete and represent a better club that fully represents the spirit of the sport. Refusing to sign the transfer order meant our daughter would have missed the deadline to compete in a local comp. After the threatening legal action, the CEO responded via Gym WA claiming to Gymnastics WA that Carys was still a 'member' of the club AND we have never provided any written notice (even though we had left 8 weeks prior). Luckily we asked Gymnastics WA to ask her to provide a register of attendance at CGA if she was still there..... Our case went all the way to Gymnastics Australia (yes it got to that level) just for a 9 year old to compete in a local gymnastics state competition, We did not want our daughter to miss out doing something she loves and is passionate about. We paid the 3 month fine so we could put an end to the stress. In effect, financially the CEO/club had won.... Our decision to leave the club were due to lots of reasons - some including suspending our 11 year old son (who was at the club at the same time) for simply 'talking' in a 3 hour session, one coach to teach 3 x different classes, using coaches not qualified to teach certain skills, making comments about food to our daughter resulting in her not eating.... A positive outcome out of all the stress and drama CGA/CEO put us through was our daughter placed FIRST in the same competition the CEO tried to block her from competing in. Despite the same CEO trying to put my 9 year old daughter off (effectively sabotage) her floor routine by walking around the edge of the competing floor (I have video footage of her doing this), when my daughter is attempting her floor routine. My daughter nailed it from the great coaching team she received from her new club. My daughter did well at the competition from 3 months hard work training with a different gymnastics club ( --> Active Gymnastics in O'Connor, WA)."
"Our children attended Sunday morning classes. Would give 5 stars for the coaches because they focus on technique BUT remove stars for - 1. Business owner cancelled Sunday morning sessions citing a coach had a family emergency. Now we discover they were running separate adult classes those mornings instead. 2. We still got billed for the classes that CGA cancelled on us. 3. Business owner could never be contacted via mobile or email. Even coaches complained about the business owner being non-contactable. 4. One Sunday the coaches told us "this is the last day your children can attend. From now on your children must attend Saturday and a weeknight and pay double the fees!" We had no option but to quit. Now we find out it's because another business (possibly related to CGA) is using the gym for adult sessions on Sunday mornings. 5. CGA has sent us 2 monthly bills for double the amount we were paying even though we quit and our children never attended those sessions! The owner is dishonest and greedy. It's unfortunate I can't give 0 stars. Coaches, I hope you can find a better organisation to work for and take any remaining CGA kids with you."
