About South Perth Psychiatry
Welcome to South Perth Psychiatry, located at Cockburn Central on Honour Way. As a trusted institution in the field of mental health, we provide comprehensive medical services to individuals in need.
At South Perth Psychiatry, we understand the importance of addressing a wide range of mental health conditions. Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) are conditions that can significantly impact how a person thinks, feels, and interacts with others. It is estimated that 1 in 70 to 1 in 100 people are on the autism spectrum. Our experienced team is dedicated to providing support and guidance to individuals with ASD and their families.
According to the National Health Survey 2017-18, mental and behavioral conditions affect a significant portion of the Australian population, with 1 in 5 (20%) Australians reporting such conditions. Anxiety spectrum disorders are among the most common mental health disorders reported.
Trauma-related conditions, such as Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), often go under-reported, under-recognized, and under-treated. The 2007 National Survey of Mental Health and Wellbeing revealed that 12% of Australians have experienced PTSD in their lifetime. At South Perth Psychiatry, we prioritize the identification and treatment of trauma-related conditions, ensuring that individuals receive the care they need.
Adult attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is another condition that can greatly affect an individual's daily life. Symptoms include persistent problems with attention, hyperactivity, and impulsive behaviors. Our team specializes in diagnosing and managing ADHD, providing tailored treatment plans to support individuals in reaching their full potential.
Mood disorders, such as Depressive Disorders and Bipolar Disorder, are common and can have a profound impact on an individual's biological, social, and psychological well-being if left untreated. At South Perth Psychiatry, we offer comprehensive assessments and evidence-based treatments to help individuals effectively manage their mood disorders.
We understand that mental health disorders can be debilitating and have a significant impact on one's quality of life. That's why we emphasize the importance of early diagnosis and treatment. By seeking timely help, individuals can experience improved outcomes and regain control over their mental well-being.

Reviews of South Perth Psychiatry
"I have been on various medication for around 7 years. Needless to say I have been to many psychiatrists and therapists over the years. Many of which were dismissive, quick to prescribe more medication over developing coping strategies or generally forgetful of who I was and why I was there in the first place. After deciding 2 years ago that I wanted to stop taking 3+ pills a day, I got a referral to see Dr Rooprai. The waitlist was quite long but worth it in the end. He was kind, remembered who I was, what i had told him previously and what medication I was on, he suggested i track my sleep and mood daily to help see the connection between the two. This gave me the confidence to try therapy again and suggested i see Nicola who was in the same clinic. She was again, kind, understanding and remembered what i had told her previously. I can now successfully say it's been one of the best decisions. I no longer feel numb or nothing from being on multiple medication and now have various coping strategies to help so I wont need to turn to medication as a first resort in the future."
"In January, I submitted a referral to be put on a wait list understanding that it may be a significant amount of time to wait prior to an appointment. As of today (28/02/2023), I have just received a bulk email asking if I am still interested in their services however it has cc'd in 39 other patients' emails which has their full names attached and some are work email addresses exposing where they work. This is a massive invasion of privacy, especially for a psychiatry clinic. Very disappointing to see as someone who works in administration and regularly handles highly sensitive personal information. This clinic's methods for contacting patients need an urgent review."
"Great experience, I was quite nervous going in to see a psychiatrist as I had never been before. The team were all so welcoming and reassuring. Dr. Rooprai was very informative every step of the way and made me feel at ease. Great Team, Great Service"
"I waited 3wks for an appointment, but once that come through it was very efficient and as I live 500km they were considerate of that. Dr Mistry was very attentive and understanding. I would highly recommend. It's clean, professional and I walked in with huge anxiety but soon relaxed and felt comfortable."
"I had a pretty awful experience with this clinic. It was difficult to get in touch initially via email, and took me and my psychologist to follow up 2 weeks after my initial email. My initial appointment had then not been booked in properly. On the day this meant I had to wait an extra 2 hours for my appointment. I then had to re-fill in forms as in those two hours a couple of them had been lost, as well as the original referral I had brought with me. I felt quite uncomfortable with the psychiatrist and it was very clear to me that he had not read the previous psychiatrist's report after misrepresenting its findings. And at best he seemed dismissive of my circumstances. Additionally, it is nearly impossible to contact the clinic directly via phone, as I found out when trying to cancel my remaining appointments. I spoke to two different people (one on mobile and the other on landline), who stated they could not make or cancel bookings, but they would pass the message on. After having no correspondence from the clinic (I asked for an email to confirm the cancellation) I had to physically go in to cancel my appointments to ensure I would not be charged for them. This wouldn't be so bad if the clinic didn't have such a strict cancellations policy, starting at 25% of the cost of the appointment if an appointment is cancelled within 2 weeks. This, in my opinion, is completely unacceptable and avoidable."
