"Fantastic surgeon I’ve had a few laparoscopy’s before and Dr O’Shea was by far the best. My incisions were so small and healed very quickly. He is very kind and has a fantastic bed side manner. Thank you Robert"
"One of the worst experiences ever. Was referred due to suspected endometriosis by a local GP. He asked me why I was there, with a very confused and dismissive tone, and when I answered, he muttered something about it not being something he does anymore. But he sighed, and then said he’d see me anyway. I was in my 20s and the majority of the women in his waiting room looked to be over 50. His focus was prolapse and hysterectomy and didn’t seem to want to take any other cases. Anyway, worst bedside manner, ice cold. Ended up getting a referral to another Gynaecologist and never went back."
"Disgusting bedside manner, so cold, dismissive, looks at you like you’re stupid when explaining the pains / symptoms you have. Won’t listen to what you have to say - takes minutes to think and dismisses any concerns. Internal ultrasound he actually has hurt me every time even wanted to do it on my period. EVERY TIME I say I’m allergic to latex when it’s on my file and nearly always uses it until I remind them i am allergic then he used a glove instead…. Always asks my partner to leave the room when speaking to me, even after surgery. Convinced my endo won’t affect my fertility so far it has. Post op 4 months now and pains have come back the same some day worse - he doesn’t seem interested. Creepiest doctor. Rudest receptionists. Actually so scared he’s set me up for more problems.."
"My wife visited Dr O,Shea today for issues relating to ongoing cysts.I would not ever recommend him or would not waste our time visiting. We both found him to be very arrogant, abrupt. I myself tried to give a bit of history relating to my wife's issues and he was not interested in hearing what I had to say. He was very abrupt in his approach to my wife. When Dr OShea done the pv ultrasound he inserted the device without telling my wife what he was doing. Overall his people skills was very poor and ,,arrogant .Medicalofessionals like him ,time to leave the profession"
"I left the appointment more confused, as the doctor didn't give me much information. Given his experience and history working as an obstetrician, I went to him specifically, as I wanted insight on a recent test result that was flagged, and was told to find an obstetrician (this doctor no longer works as such, but has a history in the area). He told me the test was irrelevant, but didn't say why. I was there for my general health, but he was focussed on us getting pregnant, which I had stated was a secondary reason for being there, and kept highlighting that we haven't been trying for very long (8 months). I was previously informally diagnosed with PCOS, as I had high androgens, low oestrogen, and low progesterone. A modern ultrasound (they find more folicles) found 28 folicles on one ovary and 27 on the other. I was also found to have insulin resistance. I am not overweight, but I do get acne and have male pattern hair growth, although I am blonde and remove it, so usually is disregarded. Also, I had been charting my base temperature, mucus, and periods, and was having cycles 24-32 days (at 22 years old) with indications that something was wrong, as there was usually no mucus, sometimes very little, and my temperature was also showing something was wrong, and I was told to see a specialist. These results were 5 years ago, so the doctor did a quick ultrasound and said everything looked normal and healthy. I was grateful that the ultrasound was done at the appointment. I asked about the previous test results, as my understanding is that over 25 folicles indicates a problem, and he said it was normal. He said I do not have PCOS, but didn't indicate how many folicles I now have. He didn't explain why I do not have PCOS. He did say he could write a letter to my GP, and I am hoping this will contain more information. I also described pain that I had this cycle, which is cramping so severe that I cannot stand, shooting pain down into my knees, and up my spine, and waking me up. Pain so severe I'm holding back screams, and lasting for 40 minutes. This is since coming off of anti-inflammatories recently. I also have had abdominal pain on a separate occasion recently for which I went to hospital. He couldn't give me any information on why my period pain was so bad, only said that if it is only one time, not to be concerned."
