"Small tidy campus close to public transport. Thanks goodness for the great library facilities, the librarians are fantastic student support resource people!! Current library area has plenty of computers, comfortable chairs and is carpeted so not noisy and echoey like some can be. Printing is not the cheapest in town but convenient and reliable. Its a shame the cafeteria has closed due to lack of patronage over the COVID-19 closure but otherwise it is a lovely campus with reasonable student amenities.."
"I really would love to give this place more stars, as the lecturers work hard and have to put up with a lot. However this is the fourth semester in a row where enrolments and distribution of timetables has been delivered poorly. Are we not customers as well as students? we certainly aren't being treated like customers. We get our timetables the night before we are about to start class for the week, those of us who have to work end up missing out on the first week of study as we have not been able to communicate our availability to our employer. Students need their timetables at minimum 1 week before class starts. Admin team are doing their best however it is quite clear that they have not had the proper or adequate training. The individuals overseeing the whole enrolment process has a lot to answer for"
"If I could provide a negative star for this institution I would. They are happy to take your funds and then never deliver the promised education. As an external student it took 3 months to be given access to their online blackboard. Access was sporadic, as the system kept requiring password changes every few days. The materials provided were out-of-date and very unclear. It has been the worst educational experience I have ever had with an institution ( of which I have ample experience). Personally, I would not recommend this institution to my family or friends."
"I started a Diploma and wasn't able to finish it, as they simply removed the relevant course. Pretty much left me in limbo, so I re-did many units later at another Tafe. An odd (presumably management) decision, that wasted time and money. I hope (assume) this would not affect others in their courses (mine was electronics.) On the big plus side, the lecturers were all great, knowledgeable and thorough. *BUT*.. since their classes are no longer available they most likely have moved on..."
"I joined North Metropolitan TAFE, 2 years ago, been a full time student in 4 different courses. Throughout my whole 2 years, I've had the worst experience dealing the with their dysfunctional system, There's always something wrong happening with their system, that affects even the Lecturers to the point where some classes had to be extended by several weeks in order to catch up due to the system not working as it should. There has been several problems with Submitting files, Downloading assignments and much more. Their "Blackboard" system, from the day I've written this review is completely non-functional, We can't even submit our work! Earlier this year I wasn't even able to access my Timetable to see which day I start, I had to physically go there, wait on a 2 Hour Queue just to be informed on when my class started because I was paranoid about missing classes. Not to mention that Enrolling was a pain in the ass too, 4 Hour Queue just so I could pay for my enrollment, there was no other way for me to do it either, because I couldn't pay online due to their website being broken and their phone services always busy, even at early hours of the morning. I get it, there are other students, but this exact drama has happened for the past 2 years I've been there and It hasn't been addressed. It's aggravating and I feel sorry for any new student or International students who don't know what to do or struggle to speak the language getting through this. Fix your system! I feel bad writing this review, because one of the most positive experiences I've had in this place is my time learning, I've had an extremely positive experience with my Lecturers, they are fantastic people, amazing in fact. They look after you and teach you with the best of their ability and most do so with flying colors. I feel bad because even they are affected by the lack of organization from whoever is running this place. And to top it all off, today has made me extremely aggravated due to a change they made to my timetable and tried to sweep it under the rug. This morning as I got class I went to check my timetable for tomorrow's classes and I noticed that they just added another class into my timetable without any form of warning, this class was not even in the timetable last week or this week. They literally added this last minute. I had work later this afternoon, but I had to call in and explain what was going on because they randomly added another class without any explanation. What was supposed to be a 12pm Exit and me going to work had me leaving class at 3pm, leaving me late for work and nearly losing my job. But not only that, here's a surprise, Whoever put that extra class there done messed up too. Because not only did he put the incorrect starting time for the class, but also put the wrong room as well, leaving me and several other students wondering where was the lecturer or whether or not the whole timetable change was a mistake. We had to go look for another lecturer to ask whether or not they knew what was going on because we were completely lost. Unacceptable. I am terribly disappointed with the management in this place. Unsatisfied and extremely upset. Fix it!"
