Reviews of O'Reilly's Rainforest Retreat
"Secluded cabins with wonderful views from the balcony and outdoor hot tub of the rainforest covered mountains in the day and unspoiled views of stars at night. The cabin has a spacious living space with views outside from the large windows. The kitchen is well stocked with a large fridge freezer and an outside gas barbeque. Breakfast can be taken at the restaurant as a buffet with some items available to order, and cares for dietary requirements including vegetarian and gluten free. The evening menu at the restaurant is a bit limited and you may find yourself better off using the cabin cooking facilities. Grocery shops are a 1h+ drive away so make sure you stock up first before driving up the mountain. The grounds have very friendly birds and you can buy feed from the shop. There's a lovely board walk through the forest where you can see many wild birds, a short tree top section allows views of the canopy. Continue the path further to find a botanical garden filled with small paths exploring the plants and wildlife. The O'Reilly site has an interesting history which is explained through monuments and plaques. Definitely worth a visit."
"The steak burger in the restaurant is absolutely DISGUSTING! My husband and I got it to share so half a sandwich each. I took a bite and it was that tough my arm flung back onto the table and it fell apart and went everywhere. My husband was like what the heck. Then he had his bite and said it was disgusting. We sent it back and said how tough it was and we couldn’t eat it. Next minute the chef comes out and says what’s happened you’ve eaten most of it. I told him we had both had a bite and he wanted to argue that we had eaten most of it. DO NOT recommend the steak sandwich"
"My partner and I spent a romantic weekend away in one of the lovely villas. We both couldn’t speak more highly of the beautiful views, sunsets, service and food! We had the buffet breakfast both mornings and it had everything we could have wanted and more! The staff were incredible in both the bar and dining room. The food was incredible, would recommend getting the lamb shank and the pizatelle entree! We would also recommend doing the Moran Falls and the Moonlight Crag lockout, breathtaking views! The spa bath on the balcony was a treat! It is also worth your while going into the discovery room and looking at the history of the place, we loved looking through the guest books from the very early visitors! We will be back!"
"Dine in restaurant food was amazing but the service was beyond pathetic, messed up our order and the avoided us, we couldnt even get a waitress come our table to order desert for 30min we sat there with empty plates waiting before i had enough and got up and left. The following night we used the room service so we could get the great food and avoid the terrible service... it was terrible, couldn't call through the order no one would answer so we drove up and found the young women on her mobile while all the phones were ringing. We ordered and was told there would be an hour wait, we were fine with that but it took 3 delivery attempts to get our full order and we had to heat it in the oven the food was stone cold when it arrived. The cafe kids steak was so tough and chewy you couldnt even cut it with the knife provided, the schnitzels and burger were really nice though. The rooms were disgusting mold, dust, cobwebs, broken shower head and shower roof starting to fall down (I have photos). Beds were actually really comfortable. The room view was non-existent but the balcony spa was still amazing at night. I proposed to my finance that weekend at the top of the waterfall and it was amazing, shame about the accommodation and services. Our family will never stay there again but we will come do the hiking trails again without question. We addressed our complaints after our weekend and was met by an underwhelming response basically the manager didn't care or want to deal with the complaint and gave us a generic response and bushed it off. It doesn't bother me I already made up my mind never to return to the hotel, I just hoped they would do something about it the issues, so the next guests would enjoy their stay a bit more."
