Grosvenor Hotel Adelaide

"The beds are as hard as boards. Probably would have slept better on the floor. The curtains didn't close properly letting all the street lights pour in all night. (Couldn't close them as they where broken) TV service is terrible. Has acess to only 6 channels 2 of them which are abc and sbs. Movie channel charge per day is $36! Bed not made up properly, the sheet wasn't even pulled down all the way properly and tucked into end of bed. Had to strip whole bed and make ourselves. Air system is atrocious. You can't adjust the temperature at all. The only options you have is what speed it goes at or if its off as its an in built system that the hotel controls. We where boiling hot at night and it was set to warm... Decor is very minimal and the carpets are dirty. The hallway carpets are filthy and hallway walls etc in desperate need of a paint job/ dirty marks everywhere. One of the elevators hasn't been in service for 6 months so elevators always extremly busy and lots of waiting. Bath room grout very old and showing stains of mould. No where to put anything next to sink. Absolutely minimal in every aspect. The only great thing is the location. I've stayed at other hotels close by that are much nicer and feel relaxing and clean. Feels like a house that's been let go too long between cleans (updates)."

"The Accor website for this hotel describes it as an “economy” hotel, which is absolutely spot on given the age of the building. The service and location cannot be faulted. However, there are aspects still within the business’ control that could be addressed, such as build up of dust in the corners of the room, multiple stains in the old carpet and a hair dryer in the bathroom that has rusty components and doesn’t get hot on the highest setting (I wonder how old it was and how it passed a tag and test?). The sounds from the other hotel rooms plumbing and talk in the hallways also filters through but there probably isn’t much the hotel can do about that without significant costs. Looking at all the responses on here it sounds like it will be redeveloped or demolished which is well due. Overall it was okay value for money and for the one night stay."

"Great location. Close to bus stops and train stations. Convinience store is also just steps away. The hospitality of the staff are good and very informative. However, the room is very old and dark, just like in the picture. The room is also pretty cold when I visit in November. They also had vending machines inside the hotel."

"Was a bit concerned when I saw a number of poor ratings but this didn’t reflect my experience at all. Staff were always extremely courteous and prompt. Room was fine considering half the price of the motel’s surrounding it. I’d certainly stay again ."
