Yale Preschool

Welcome to Yale Preschool, a leading establishment in Western Australia located in the City of Gosnells, Thornlie. Situated just 18 km from Perth, our preschool is easily accessible by public transport, making it convenient for families in the area.

At Yale Preschool, we have a rich history dating back to 1970 when we first opened as North West Thornlie Primary School with just 100 students. Today, we have grown to accommodate approximately 480 students from Kindergarten to Year 6, representing diverse cultural backgrounds and over 37 language groups.

Our school prides itself on fostering a strong sense of community, with many parents who attended the school themselves now actively involved in our Parent and Community (P&C) and School Council. Through these channels, parents dedicate their time to helping students with their literacy and numeracy skills, as well as organizing various activities such as discos and lapathons.

To support the well-being of our students, we have a dedicated school Chaplain who coordinates a volunteer mentor program, breakfast club, and grief support. We are also proud participants in the Positive Behaviour Support Program (PBS), which promotes core values such as being our best, being respectful, being caring, and being responsible.

Thanks to the Building the Education Revolution (BER) program, our school now boasts a dedicated music room and science room, both staffed by full-time specialists. Additionally, we are currently participating in the Fogarty Edvance program, which aims to assist schools within Low SES communities. Our dedicated staff are committed to the education and welfare of our students, constantly striving to improve their academic and social success.

At Yale Preschool, we encourage collaboration and value the opinions and differences of others. Our students have a strong voice through the Student Council, where they run weekly assemblies and reward activities for our younger students. We also actively participate in the Southern River Sports Association, competing in a range of interschool carnivals. Our students have also excelled in state science competitions in the past.

As a school, we have established partnerships with various organizations, including the Riverton RSL for our ANZAC service, the City of Gosnells for environmental restoration projects, and the Smith Family organization to support at-risk families. We also support Thornlie Senior High School through our work placement learning program.
