About the Business
Welcome to the City of Gosnells Museum at Wilkinson Homestead! Nestled on the picturesque banks of the Canning River, our museum is housed in the remarkable State Heritage listed Wilkinson Homestead. Steeped in history, this site tells the story of early European settlement and the district's agricultural development.
The Wilkinson Homestead was built in 1912 on a property that was once one of Western Australia's largest citrus-producing properties. As you explore our museum, you'll have the opportunity to step back in time and experience life as it was in earlier decades. Replica buildings, such as the machinery shed, dunny, and washhouse, provide a fascinating glimpse into the past.
We are proud to be part of the 1829 land grant to pioneer John Okey Davis, and we invite you to discover the rich heritage of this area. The City of Gosnells' Museum is not only a point of interest and tourist attraction but also a vital establishment that relies on community support. Our dedicated volunteers work tirelessly to preserve and present the collection, offer educational programs, conduct research, and provide tours.
If you are passionate about history and would like to get involved, we encourage you to check out our Heritage volunteering page to see what positions are currently available. As we embark on this journey through history, we would like to acknowledge and pay respect to the Whadjuk (Noongar) people, the traditional custodians of this country. We honor their culture, history, and elders, both past and present.

"The museum is an attractive place for group visits and is available outside normal opening hours by request, for weddings or any group gatherings. This museum is located on the canning river and museum collection is housed in the State Heritage listed Wilkinson Homestead which has an interesting history from the time of European settlement. The museum property and nearby park area was granted to pioneer John Okey Davis in 1829. The homestead was built in 1912 on a property that became one of the largest citrus producing properties of the early 20th Century in WA. Replica buildings, machinery shed, dunny and washhouse reflect life in earlier times. Volunteers look after this place and many fruit trees."
