"I went for a school tour today and just wanted to place a helpful review for those considering this school. I highly recommend doing a school tour of the school to form your own opinion of what the school is like today. I attended Lakeland back in 2005-2006 and it has improved dramatically since I attended. We arrived during recess and just watched how the kids were interacting with each other before going in to meet the deputy principal. Simon took us for a tour around the facility and explained the different programs they have on offer for the students. They have spent money on new HASS rooms, the gym is getting renovated and there will be new drama and music rooms in that same area of the school. They are also getting an outdoor area with patio/pergola for STEM. They have access to the relativley new hockey grounds (I assume if they are doing that through sport) and have basketball/netball courts towards the back. There is room for improvement with aesthetics in some of the older buildings however nothing a lick of paint wouldn't fix. Whilst we were walking around we took note to look into the classrooms (the ones we weren't taken into) to see how the kids were behaving towards the teachers and each other and I must say they all seemed attentive. I am interested to go to a P&C meeting just to get more of an insider perspective and potentially see how we can assist in improving the school and it's reputation (pending we end up sending our daughter there in 2026)"
"This school is absolutely horrible! My son has been called a downy by mrs j moore , and to add to that like it’s not enough a substitute said he needs deodorant , THEN a english teacher said romeo and juliet references as to students like they are dating! ALSO said he looks at little girls"
"As a former student of Lakeland Senior High School, One of my fondest memories was when principal Mrs Baron would start up every assembly by saying, “It’s Baron Time!” And Baroned all over the assembly. Truly one of the schools I have ever attended."
"Poorly managed, zero accountability for bad behaviour, nothing is targeted, just a general broadcast. This turns the good students off their learning and lets the disruptive students get away with their behaviour."
