Cumberland Preschool Kindergarten

Welcome to Cumberland Preschool Kindergarten, a standalone Department of Education and Children Development (DECD) establishment located in the picturesque suburb of Cumberland Park, just 8km south of Adelaide in the Mitcham Council area. Situated in a peaceful residential area surrounded by houses, our kindergarten offers a convenient and accessible location for families, with many living within easy walking distance.

Nestled within our community, Cumberland Preschool Kindergarten is proud to be a multicultural institution, welcoming families from diverse backgrounds. Each year, we have the privilege of representing a range of cultures in our enrolments, including Indigenous, African, The Americas, Asian, European, and Middle Eastern. This diversity creates a rich and inclusive learning environment for our children, fostering a sense of global understanding and appreciation.

With a maximum capacity of 33 children per session, we strive to provide a nurturing and stimulating environment for our young learners. Currently, children attend two full days from Monday to Thursday (8:45am – 3:30pm), along with additional Friday sessions, totaling 15 hours of engaging and educational activities each week. Our dedicated team of experienced educators ensures that every child receives individualized attention and support, fostering their holistic development.

As part of the Mitcham Plains Partnership group, which encompasses eight kindergartens, five primary schools, and four secondary schools, Cumberland Preschool Kindergarten benefits from a strong network of educational resources and collaborations. While we are a member of this partnership, our children have the opportunity to transition to a variety of schools within our local area and sometimes even further afield. Our graduates have gone on to attend up to 13 different public and private schools, with our main feeder schools being Colonel Light Gardens Primary, Edwardstown Primary, and Westbourne Park Primary.

At Cumberland Preschool Kindergarten, we believe in providing a well-rounded educational experience that prepares children for their future academic journey. Our curriculum is designed to foster a love for learning, as well as develop essential social, emotional, cognitive, and physical skills. Through engaging activities, play-based learning, and a focus on individual interests, we create a supportive and inclusive environment where children can thrive and reach their full potential.
