About the Business
Welcome to Adelaide Law School, located in the heart of South Australia's vibrant capital city, Adelaide. As a future-focused institution, we are dedicated to preparing our students for the careers of tomorrow, equipping them with the skills and knowledge to navigate the challenges of a rapidly changing world.
At Adelaide Law School, we understand that the legal dimension is pervasive in our modern society. From emerging technologies and artificial intelligence to human rights and environmental issues, the need for legal expertise is more crucial than ever. A career in law provides an incredible opportunity to advocate, effect change, and make a real impact on the world.
As the top law school in South Australia, we pride ourselves on providing a solid foundation for our students. Through our strong connections with the legal profession, we offer unparalleled networking opportunities and access to a global network of international opportunities. Studying law with us opens doors to a wide range of exciting career paths.
In 2023, Adelaide Law School will celebrate an impressive milestone – 140 years of legal education. We invite past and present students, the professional community, and other supporters of the Law School to join us in commemorating this significant achievement.
One of our core values is our support for the Uluru Statement from the Heart. We believe in the importance of Indigenous voices and are committed to promoting reconciliation and social justice.
The Sir John Salmond Law Library, located within our institution, is a comprehensive research and reference library that provides access to a vast array of Australian and international legal resources. It serves as a valuable resource for our students, enabling them to conduct in-depth research and stay up-to-date with the latest legal developments.
In addition, Adelaide Law School operates several free legal advice clinics, where final-year students, under the supervision of experienced practicing lawyers, provide assistance to the community. This valuable service not only benefits those in need but also offers our students practical experience and the opportunity to make a positive impact on people's lives.
We are proud to announce that three of our alumni have been awarded 2022 Fellowships from the Law Foundation of South Australia, which will provide them with enriching professional international opportunities. This recognition highlights the quality of education and the success of our graduates.
Furthermore, we are delighted to share that our staff overwhelmingly support all three proposals of the Uluru Statement from the Heart, affirming our commitment to Indigenous rights and reconciliation. We also advocate for the 'yes' position in the upcoming 2023 referendum.
As part of our commitment to fostering knowledge exchange and collaboration, we regularly organize meet-ups with leading law reformers, lawyers, judges, and academics in locations such as London and Limerick. These events provide a platform for sharing knowledge and experiences on topical law reform issues, contributing to the advancement of legal practice and policy.
We are located in the iconic Ligertwood Building on the beautiful North Terrace Campus of the University of Adelaide. With its rich history and stunning surroundings, our campus provides an inspiring backdrop for studying law.
Join us at Adelaide Law School, where we empower students to become the legal professionals of tomorrow, ready to tackle the challenges of a dynamic world.

"Had my International Trade Law class here. The building has a vintage vibe."
"Terrible administration staff and tutors are a hit or miss. Do not come here if you are international or an ethnic minority. You will not be welcomed. The female admin staff are especially rude. They make you wait excessively long for them to finish gossiping, tell you off for not knowing where a room might be, laugh and dismiss your queries or even better, accuse you of being wrong and claim it is not their job when they make a mistake or “miss” your request (note this will usually done when you see them in person because there is no paper trial. So avoid this at all costs). Some tutors are a godsend but I’ve heard others who spend their time talking about politics, telling off ethnic students for taking photos of their slides without informing them politely first (most tutors tell you to take photos) or just plain ridiculing them for asking questions and refusing to follow procedure for course administrative matters by ignoring emails. Do not expect to be supported here."
