Helene Gowers Ballet Schools
About the Business
Welcome to Helene Gowers Ballet Schools, located in Subiaco, Australia. Our institution is a point of interest for all ballet enthusiasts. At our school, we offer a range of classes and programs to cater to different age groups and skill levels.
For the little ones aged 3 to 5 years, our Tiny Tots Classes are all about fun! We incorporate familiar characters like The Wiggles, The Fairies, Angelina Ballerina, and nursery rhymes into the classes. Alongside these, children also learn skipping, marching, and running, while engaging in exercises for their hands and feet to introduce basic ballet technique. These classes encourage the development of imagination through creative movement.
Our recreational classes are open to students of all levels who want to participate purely for the joy of movement and fitness. These classes also foster an appreciation for other art forms, particularly music.
For students aged 6 to 8 years, we offer Pre-Primary and Primary classes. Here, ballet technique is gently introduced at a basic level, with a strong emphasis on creativity and imagination. Students begin to build muscle strength, flexibility, and coordination. They may also have the opportunity to participate in exams and earn medals.
From Levels 1 to 6, students at our school develop an artistic and spatial awareness, along with good listening skills and critical thinking. As they progress, they also cultivate self-discipline. Students who wish to sit for exams should be dedicating at least 2 ½ hours per week to their dance studies.
Our Senior classes, including Intermediate, Advanced 1, and Advanced 2, are designed for students who aspire to become professional vocational dancers or teachers. These students participate in examinations to further their skills and expertise.
We understand that class allocation may be a work in progress, but we appreciate your patience. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to us at 9399 2473. Our dedicated team of teachers, including Miss Helene Gowers and Miss Gemma Esvelt, along with Ingrid Horeb, Ashley To, and Annelise Colman, are committed to providing quality instruction.
In addition to regular classes, we also offer Performance Awards, where students showcase their skills and receive a trophy and a report. Our Presentation Day, held in September, is a special event where certificates, medals, and trophies earned through exams and tests are presented.
For your convenience, here are the term dates for 2023: Term 1 starts on February 4th, Term 2 begins on April 26th, Term 3 commences on July 17th, and Term 4 starts on October 9th.
During the July school holidays, we also offer a Cecchetti Holiday Course and Performance Awards, providing an opportunity for students to further their training and receive recognition.
At Helene Gowers Ballet Schools, we are dedicated to nurturing a love for ballet and fostering artistic growth in our students. Join us on this beautiful journey of dance and self-expression.

Reviews
"My 3 years old started a journey of ballet with Helene 3 months ago. She had an annual concert to participate as a young star just one month after she had started dancing in the class. I wish if I had a ballet teacher like her when I was young. She is an amazing teacher. Even a preschooler listens to her very well and learns whatever she says very well. During lessons and rehearsals for the first concert for my 3 years old, I found she is talented as a stage producer. She kept giving advices as if there were all the performers in a small lesson room though there was a part of the whole performers in my view. Probably she had imaginary performers in her view to teach kids how to play a role in the performers’ team on the stage. And she allocated right roles to every participant to be suited to each individuality. I am really looking forward to seeing my girl on a stage at end of this year again."
