Jewellery making is a versatile craft that can easily be turned into a business, as some of our students have successfully done. If you have ever been curious about creating your own unique pieces, now is the perfect time to start. We currently have a vacancy on Tuesday nights, so be sure to secure your spot as soon as possible.

When it comes to jewellery making, the first decision you need to make is what style of jewellery you want to create. There are countless types of jewellery and techniques to explore, each requiring different tools and equipment. Many individuals start their jewellery making journey with beads or wire, but eventually find themselves wanting to learn the basics of metalsmithing. This includes skills such as sawing, polishing, and most importantly, soldering. Mastering the art of soldering is essential for many jewellery techniques and is considered one of the most valuable skills for a jewellery artist.

At Gold Coast Jewellery Studio, we focus on teaching a wide range of techniques using various materials. While silver is a popular choice, we also work with copper, brass, and aluminium. These metals can be used individually or combined with sterling silver to create stunning pieces. Learning to apply surface textures to these metals adds an extra level of interest and uniqueness to your creations.

Our Foundation Silver Jewellery course is perfect for complete beginners. New students joining our classes start with this course, which consists of six projects designed to build upon each other. By the end of the course, you will have gained the essential techniques needed to bring your jewellery dreams to life. It is truly amazing to see the variety of beautiful work that students create from these basic projects.

For more experienced students, we offer the flexibility to skip or fast-track through projects based on your previous experience level. Our goal is to cater to each student's individual needs and provide a fun and informal learning environment. Class sizes are kept small, with a maximum of five students, ensuring personalized attention and the opportunity to make new friends who share your passion for jewellery making.

The cost for the first eight-week block of classes is $400.00, with the option to renew every four weeks at $200.00. Please note that this fee covers tuition only and does not include tools or materials. However, we do have some tools available for sharing in the studio, allowing you time to gradually build your own collection. On the first night of class, we will provide you with a tool list and explain the different types of tools you may need.
