Save the Children Op Shop - Sefton Park
About the Business
Welcome to Save the Children Op Shop - Sefton Park! Located on Main North Road, our institution is not just your average book store or store. We are a point of interest that offers more than just retail therapy. As part of Save the Children's network of op shops scattered across Australia, our shop provides a unique shopping experience that goes beyond finding fashionable pieces, toys, books, and hidden treasures.
When you shop at Save the Children Op Shop - Sefton Park, you are contributing to the creation of better lives for children both in Australia and overseas. All the proceeds from your purchases directly support Save the Children's mission to improve the lives of children in need. By recycling and repurposing donated items, we strive to make a positive impact on the environment as well.
Our op shop is run by a team of friendly volunteers who add to the welcoming atmosphere and make your shopping experience even more enjoyable. They are passionate about the cause and dedicated to providing you with the best service possible.
We also have a special partnership with SCRgroup, which allows us to give a second life to items that don't find a new home in our op shop. Clothing, handbags, manchester, and soft furnishings that cannot be sold are either taken overseas to be re-homed or repurposed into rags or biofuel. This ensures that nothing goes to waste and helps us make a difference globally.
Please note that we are unable to accept mattresses as donations.
As a volunteer-based organization, our opening hours may vary depending on volunteer availability. We rely on the support of our dedicated volunteers to keep our shop running smoothly and efficiently. We appreciate your understanding if there are any unexpected changes to our opening hours.

"The store could have been lovely if not for the women behind the counter. Extremely rude, borderline aggressive. We walked in 20 minutes before closing and was met with her rudely stating they were closing soon. I understand closing hours, but she could have gone about it in such a different way. No customer service skills what so ever. We felt very unwelcome and left feeling upset and disappointed. Will not be returning purely because of her."
"One of the women (second time in a year I’ve been there and it’s happened twice) will kick you out 10-20 minutes before the shops close. Really poor customer service skills. I’m happy to follow any rules but the manner in which she speaks to speaks to the public is vile. We traveled pretty far! Also - It ruins your whole day. A lot of people who go to opp shops have anxiety and mental health issues and I’m not sure why she is dealing with the public. We were happy to leave but also please talk to people like they’re human beings. Sad to see because it’s a great shop and the other staff are fantastic. A single interaction with this person could impact your whole week. I could imagine people actively avoiding the shop because they don’t want to get yelled at by her. I’m sure the store is aware of this person, please let her know to adjust the manner she speaks to people. “Hey just just a heads up we close early everyday you have this amounted time” is sufficient. We were met very abrasively and with sarcasm and it’s just not a pleasant experience at all. We were so uncomfortable even being in the shop."
