Dr Nicholas Bucknell is an experienced radiation oncologist at the renowned Icon Cancer Centre Midland. He completed his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) at the prestigious University of Western Australia in 2012. Following that, he underwent specialist radiation oncology training in Victoria and Tasmania. Dr Bucknell further honed his skills through a clinical research fellowship at the esteemed Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, where he gained extensive experience in managing a wide range of cancer types. In 2021, he became a fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (FRANZCR) and held a radiation oncology position at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre.
Dr Bucknell maintains a strong interest in clinical research and trials, with a particular focus on lung cancer and stereotactic ablative radiation therapy (SABR). He enjoys a balanced mix of clinical work, contributing to leading national and international publications and conferences, and participating in regular multidisciplinary meetings with his esteemed colleagues. In addition to his role at Icon, Dr Bucknell also serves as a radiation oncologist at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital. He is an esteemed member of several leading cancer trial groups, including the American Society of Radiation Oncology (ASTRO), European Society for Radiotherapy and Oncology (ESTRO), and Trans Tasman Oncology Group (TROG). Dr Bucknell has been recognized for his expertise and dedication with various awards and research grants, including the Varian Prize for the best trainee oral presentation at the 2018 annual scientific meeting and the Withers and Peters Scholarship in 2021.
Dr Bucknell's clinical experience spans a wide range of solid tumor malignancies, with a special interest in lung cancer, gastrointestinal cancer, colorectal cancer, skin cancer, brain cancer, spinal (CNS) tumors, and stereotactic radiation therapy. With his extensive knowledge and expertise, Dr Nicholas Bucknell is dedicated to providing the highest quality care to his patients, ensuring their well-being and offering them the best possible treatment options.
