Azelia Ley Homestead Museum
About the Business
Welcome to the Azelia Ley Homestead Museum, a fascinating establishment and tourist attraction located in Hamilton Hill, Australia. As a museum and point of interest, our institution offers a unique opportunity to explore the rich history of the Cockburn area.
Step inside our heritage-listed residence, built in 1923 for a member of the Manning family, and immerse yourself in the life of a prosperous settler family in the Cockburn district. Our museum showcases a diverse collection of exhibits, including clothing, furniture, photographs, paintings, toys, and market garden machinery, providing a comprehensive insight into Cockburn's past.
One of our highlights is the Hallway Picture Gallery, where you can view early photography depicting the settlers, homes, families, and industries of the wider City of Cockburn area. Additionally, explore the original Guest Room, featuring a four-poster bed brought to the colony by the Drummond family aboard the 'Parmelia,' the first ship to arrive in Western Australia.
For those interested in archaeology, our museum houses the archaeological explorations of Shane Burke, showcasing diggings undertaken at 'Peel Town.' These displays offer a captivating glimpse into the region's past.
Adjacent to the Azelia Ley Homestead Museum, you'll find the Wagon House Museum. This large building, constructed in 1985, houses various wagons and carriages, providing an insight into transportation during earlier times.
Don't forget to visit the Davilak Heritage Trail, located behind the museum. Accessible through the gates, this trail allows you to explore the remnants of the Davilak House Estate, including the heritage-listed Davilak House itself, built in 1840 by the Manning family.
The Azelia Ley Homestead Museum is open to the public on Sundays from 1:30 to 4:30 pm. For group bookings, we also offer access on Mondays and Wednesdays. You can find us at Azelia Road, Hamilton Hill, W.A. 6163, near Davilak Avenue, towards the northern end of Manning Park.

"Lovely spot! Although some old guy who works there, followed us around and didn't talk to us at all. It made my kids feel uncomfortable. Besides that, it was a great day to explore and then have a picnic."
